was looking at that bonds thread that's going down and prices paid for his cards. had me thinking about tiger. i collect the 2012 ud blue/gold parallel sets. it's a fun set as it also has guys like gretzky, jordan, dr. j, schmidt and several other stars from other sports.
both sets complete, except 1 card. so periodically still look for her under certain criteria which pulls up the blue/gold parallels of tiger as well. when the set first came out and for a steady year or so afterwards his cards would pull in roughly $80-40 on the blue. about $20 on the gold.
well i looked again today and there are several blue's for less than $2 and still not selling. people are paying more to ship his '01 ud rc psa 9 than they are for the card itself. not only that, there are only 13 documented sales of psa 9 cards, period!
luckily, i never got caught up in his cards. i did have a sifk psa 10 gem at one point, but sold it. didn't kill it, but i can only imagine what the guy did who paid $100,000k for one is sleeping considering pwcc just auctioned one and got $3550. this was a $10K all day everyday for years.
of course bonds was on pd's (tiger too but not what this is about). bonds at least played in an era where just about everybody was doing it. i think there is (at least) a possibility, granted way down the line, that his cards could rebound slightly/somewhat but as for tiger, i just don't see it....
is it time to officially break out the fork?

DISASTER
I'm probably in the minority but I believe he's going to get one more major before his career is over. As far as card board value I'd say "stick a fork"
I can see it if he can get healthy and stay healthy.
and above all else, it may be more along the lines as he's made enough money and just doesn't give a sh!t anymore. that's what I see in his face these days when he hits a bad shot. he used to look concerned. now it's like "oh well".
Haha
sums it up perfectly. is there anything else more to say?
katrina/enron/mci world com/lucent being off the table...

Tiger Woods card sells for $125,000
Tiger Woods card sells for $125,000
Tiger Woods Card Breaks the $100,000 Mark!
Hold on to your hats people because you are not going to believe this one. A 1996 SI For Kids Tiger Woods card graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA sold for an astonishing $125,000 this past week. That's right, $125,000! This is not only the highest price ever recorded for a modern card but it is also one of the highest prices realized of all-time.
The seller, Mike Souza of American Pastime Investments in San Diego, was excited to be a part of hobby history. "This is simply great news for the hobby," said an excited Souza. "When I first saw this card, I knew it had a chance at making the "10" grade. There was no evidence of yellowing or print on either side of the card, which is a common condition problem for this issue. This has to be the highest price paid for a post-1952 sportscard in any grade."
The buyer remains anonymous.
