The Pa. senate is going to vote TONIGHT on senate bill 76.
This bill renews tax on coins and bullion in PA.

IF you know anyone that you can contact do so sooner than later.

Dealers that do business in PA let a PA senator know your feelings.

Thanks in advance for your support.

You can call all you want. If they want your money they are going to take it one way or another! As a PA resident that is involved with local politics believe mewhen I say they "don't care" and vote how they want to. That is another reason that we don't have voter initiative ballot questions!

By the way. My property plus schooltax is 9 grand a year. I am still waiting on my tax break from the casinos! !! For some reason they keep going up! Ya tax relief is on it's way! Better not hold my breath waiting!!

With most state revenues taking a hard hit based on the dramatically reduced price of petroleum products , especially gasoline(taxes), every state in the Union is faced with budget crises. The state legislatures will continue to hammer away at resourcing revenue from every aspect of commerce.

FTB you speak of property tax relief? How can they prove they won't allow the districts to raise them NEXT year? Are they going to put a measure in the billthat prevents districts from rraising it for a few years? You live here so let me ask you this? You know what the Shapp tax is? You should since you pay it! Do you realize that is was suppose to be Temporary?? You people just don't get it? Where is the tax relief from all the casinos we were promised? Call all you want. It will do you no good!!

Don't let no one fool you. Taxes don't go down. Never have never will. My kid also goes to private school so in reality I am paying 9 grand in property and SCHOOL tax for OTHER peoples children and another 4 grand for my daughters school! Why do all parents pay for child's tuition like I do? Or give me a break on my school tax since I pay my way. How is that fair? It's not...

We all need to learn to live within our means.....and that includes our state and federal goverment. I am getting tired of the bleeding that I am getting for thebbenefit of OTHERS!

What am I supposed to do, nothing? You get the government you deserve, and I'll be damned if my state reps don't hear my opinion about this... the only reason I did nothing before was because I hadn't heard about it. Posted it on FB last night and asked my friends to share it, already got a half doze shares... That's another 2000 or so eyes on it... Raising awareness and encouraging people to contact their elected officials is how you sway them when you don't have lobbyists on your payroll.

Can I ask who you spoke with? Wait...let me guess. The flunkie who answers the phone at the office? Did you get to "speak" with anyone of INPORTANCE? doubt it! Look I am not saying don't call BUT they honeslty DONT CARE! likeI said I know howbit works very well. The pperson you spoke with won't even relay the message to anyone who matters. We need to do more then call. We need to get out in LARGE NUMBERS AND VOTE vote them right out of office.

Every wonder why the guys who give out the most handouts win?

Next time you call also ask where our property tax relief is from the casinos is? Been what 5, 6, 7 or more years! Still waiting. ....

Look I am not trying to pick a fight. I am tired of getting bleed dry and left out to hang. We can call all we want. We can demand all we want. UntilWE make them change we are all stuck in this mess. Good luck. I hope it makes a didifference but I doubt it.

I lived in Pennsylvania for a long while, until I recently moved to Florida. Here is how Pennsylvania handles taxation:

Pennsylvania imposed an emergency tax on all alcohol sold in the Commonwealth, as a result of the Johnstown, PA flood. The "temporary" 10% tax was initially intended to help pay for clean up, recovery, and assistance to flood victims. Though the recovery was assisted by the federal government and completed within six years of the disaster, the tax was never repealed. The tax was raised to 15% in 1963 and to 18% in 1968, where it stands today.

The Johnstown flood was in 1936.

For those of you still in Pennsylvania, I wish you good luck with property tax relief. Based on the Johnstown flood tax and the supposed tax relief from the casinos, you will need all the luck you can get.

    PA ALERT!

Vote to eliminate sales-tax exemption postponed
On November 17, 2016, Pennsylvania ICTA members and many others responded
strongly to our need for intervention in an effort to pass an amendment
that would again make sales of coins and precious metals taxable in
Pennsylvania. As a result, we are told the Senate will go over the issue
further and take it up after the Thanksgiving break. We will keep you
    posted.

Thanks again for making the members of the Pennsylvania Senate aware of
how important it is that the state not tax this one investment asset when
other investments are not subject to the same level of taxation.

Continue to make calls to your Senators asking them not to include coins
or precious metals in any amendment.

If you don’t know who that is, you can get their names and contact
information at Find Your Legislator. Select By Address, By County, or By
Map and it will generate a report with a link that will allow you to
    obtain their contact information.

Below is an outline that might be helpful in drafting a telephone call.
These are suggestions only and you should tailor the message to your own
    situation.
    1. Tell them who you are:
o Identify yourself and your business, using your physical address.
o Report the length of time you’ve done business in Pennsylvania.
o Provide your contact information in case the legislator wishes to
    respond.
    2. Tell them why you are contacting them.
o Ask them to oppose Senate Bill 76 (sponsor Sen. David G. Argall) and
    any
other bill that would be amended to repeal the investment metal bullion
    and investment coins sales-tax exemption.
We cannot stress enough the urgency of making your calls NOW. Thank you
for your time and attention on this very important request.

amendment that would eliminate the current sales-tax exemption

I have found that with state legislators, unlike representatives to congress, that a concerted effort to contact them has FAR more effect. I used to know someone who worked in an office and they certainly did not ignore people who chimed in on an issue. That is not to say that it would always carry the day, but rather the local state senators and representatives are MUCH closer to their constituency, which is also reasonably small.

It takes a good bit of money to run ANY state and they will get it one way or another from the citizens, the question is, which way. The states with no state income tax have high taxes on other things, i.e. real estate, sales tax, etc. There is NO magic bullet and all states must balance their budget each year, by law, as they cannot print money like the federal government.

Gas taxes in most states, including Pennsylvania, are a specific amount per gallon -- regardless of the price of gasoline at the pump. Pennsylvania gas tax revenue actually increases with lower fuel prices, as people tend to travel more and buy more gallons of fuel.

This bill was defeated on Monday by a vote of 25-24, with the Democratic Lieutenant Governor breaking the 24-24 tie vote.

Why would the PA Lt Governor vote against an increase in Pennsylvania's sales tax? image

If the proposed sales tax increase eventually is adopted I will skip the Pennsylvania shows I now attend and take my trade elsewhere.
