For that much it better have a lock of George Washington's hair or something! image Seriously you could get some nice 50s complete sets on Feebay for that much! Do a search yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Boy do I feel bad for the person who fills out the ID-10T form to buy this and this player ends up blowing his arm out or something image

Used to be a time when companies inserted cards like these or redemptions for these into packs. Guess they have figured out they can make it and sell it and put less valuable cards in packs
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

It's an 8x10 so not a regular card

Donruss had 8x10's into packs, and the "OR REDEMPTIONS" comes into play here as well

Plus the point is not how they are distributed, its the fact that Topps is now creating low run cards, then pricing them based on market value. To me that is about the same as someone making cards then putting a price guide on them.

  • Topps has a deal with Correa so this makes sense but Topps is always creating new products that are sold by them
  • I spend more on cardboard pictures of male athletes than some people on min wage make in a given year. I'll never scoff at what people want to collect and what they want to spend it on.

My point was not what some collector might want to spend his/her money on, but more the point of the card company producing a 1 of 1 and putting such a high price on it. Just looks like they are getting greedy. Why not continue with making it a redemption card in one of their high priced packs? JMO.

  • No worries, and I don't necessarily disagree with you, mainly on the basis Topps has played dumb to me in regards to secondary market prices before. When they only create and package the cards they have some semblance of plausible deniabilty. When they are obviously using secondary market averages to price individual items that they sell themselves that completely flies out the window.

Topps has been pushing the high end collectibles for a while now. There's a market, but
5K just seems too much. I can't falt Topps. It is business.
