Thanks vinatagefun. Happiness is Mantle cards...also excited about starting to collect a new player..just can't decide who it's going to be yet...someone a lot less expensive FOR SURE!!!
Good luck, homie. A great and top tier challenging Mick card. Was the last and hardest one for me. So many issues on that card...print dots, tilt, centering, focus, it has it all! I remember when I stumbled upon mine it was an incredibly anxious several days until the auction ended. You will feel great when you get this one across home plate!

Anyone is less expensive! Maybe Hank, Ruth, Gehrig.... I am thinking of going after some 33 Goudey Ruth cards and 34 Gehrig cards. Looking in the PSA 6/7 range but if I find a nice 4 or 5 I would consider it. You think Mantles are tough? Try finding Ruth and Gehrig. Only reason their prices are not higher is lack of supply which equates to lack of demand comparatively.
Depending on how one breaks it down, Ruth and Gehrig are higher priced than The Mick, for example in terms of grade for grade comparisons. In other words a Gehrig RC in say a 2-grade and a Ruth RC in 2-grade will cost more than the Mick's RC in the same grade.
In terms of other cards of Ruth and Gehrig, the #53 Goudey Ruth is a popular big one. Then there are the rarer pieces like the Frederick Foto Ruth-- that card in beater grade can run a collector like 40k+ now. If one can find it.
As to Lou, aside from his elusive RC, the US Caramel card and the DeLongs card will cost a handsome sum even in low grade. And in high grade, classics like his 33 blue Goudey and his 34 yellow will be very pricey.
So many beautiful and charming cards to collect of all three players.
Ruth & Gehrig are even more overrated than Mantle.
Don't collect their cards. (Hint, hint).
I missed a really nice 4.5 #53 Ruth last night on ebay. Clicked the BIN and was paying for it. When I clicked confirm payment it came up as unavailable. Missed it by fractions of a second.

You are correct - a very difficult card to find centered and clean. Good luck with your quest on this one.

Good Luck. Your Mantles are top notch.
