Who do ya got? Rick "The Model" Martel or our own Dpeck?

I am sitting here looking at my Rick Martel card and thinking about a good friend who would have made a more perfect "Model" wrestler. I notice that I may have a bias due to friendship, so I was thinking that I would put it out there for other CU members to weigh in on. I think that Dpeck and his brother win this contest by the hair. Enjoy. PS- I'd like to post a pic of CU member DanBessette but only will post with his permission which I have never received. You guys would love it......

Yeah, I would say Dpeck and Bro-ham win this by a mile.....Martel looks like he would fit in at any Brooklyn drinking establishment and would probably give you a, "hey, what are u looking at" if you were to turn his way.

What's with the Tom Cruise look Dpeck?

Back in the day before everyone knew he was crazy, all the girls loved Tom Cruise, so I don't think the Cruise look is a bad thing in any way!

No, of course not. We realize this. He's the one trying to systematically connect his eyebrows.

Lmao! I'm the better looking one on the left. Barry had more money so the chicks dug him more.
  • Well, I see you wore the watch, so at least you guys knew when it was time to get to hair and makeup.

Lol...Thats right! It also came in handy to help Barry and his around the clock feeding schedule. As you can see by the front of his shirt, he had, and still has to this day, a bad drooling issue

You are correct. Flair along with Dusty, Superstar Billy Graham, Stone Cold, and the Rock were the best on the mic and cutting promos. Those guys live(d) a hard life despite the money they made. The travel, injuries, drugs for pain, roids for show plus drinking took a toll on many wrestlers. Used to bump in the ring back in the day back in Florida, and after 2-3 hours your back and kidneys take a beating. Opted for regular work career versus doing the wrestling gig, and some guys I trained with ended up in NWA and WWF in Florida. It is a lot of fun to work in the ring, but your safety is not usually dependent on yourself as much as the other guy. That is why Flair always watched the ground on back drops to make sure he rotated enough and did not injure his back that he broke early on.

I have heard hitting the ropes takes a lot of time to get used to. I am someone who is injury prone and could have never physically handled the wrestling business. I honestly can't imagine the constant pain so many of the performers have gone through.

It really surprises me today that guys my size (175 pounds) are even relevant. I don't want to watch average sized guys work. I want to see guys that look like they mean business.

You probably named the top four guys ever on the mic. Everyone has their favorites and coming up with a true top five is probably impossible but no doubt those four all belong.

Ropes to me were not hard at all. First time in the ring was awesome. Grew up playing baseball and wrestling, but could not wrestle in high school because it conflicted with baseball season. Would wrestle people on the wrestling team and also do some "fake" stuff on the side. Hardest move to do was the "Frankensteiner" due to needing a competent partner to make sure you did not bust your neck.
