Any success stories from breaking up and flipping a Newenglandsportscards set?

Knowing a little about their prolific grading success, I have my reservations about buying a seemingly nice set from them. I doubt they leave too much money on the table. Anyways, I would appreciate any good or bad experiences. Thanks, Tom

I have purchased a 79 Topps Baseball Set and a 73 Topps Football Set from them this year and have returned both of them.

Both had NM in the title and described as - Mostly Ex-ExMt set with 5% lower - in the written description.

Each set contained greater than 10% of the cards with major/minor creases, checklists had been marked, and all of the keys had issues.

I will not purchase from NESC again as it is a waste of my time.

Thanks a lot. That is why I was leery about buying from that for that purpose.
  • NM generally means completely off center when buying from New England Sports cards. The star cards if centered will definitely not be NM. More like EX at best.

I have had a few successes with single cards but I would not buy a set or lot from them without scans of each card.

I've bought several starter lots that were described as mint. They came in nmmt and I was pretty pleased. All of the ones I've purchased were all commons so i would avoid ones that were complete sets. Go for the mint starter sets and then find the individual key cards separately.

adding one more thing to my above post....admittedly, I was bargain shopping with my two purchases.

I suspect the closer it is to actual value, the closer it is to being what is listed.

Still wouldn't buy from them or other dealers of the like however.

I've often considered buying a set or two from them, as the prices are definitely compelling. However, I hesitate each time as I hear the words, "too good to be true" in my head.

I have bought some individual cards from them, and a used J M Roop storage box that actually was in much better condition than I expected.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!
