1984 Tiffany Don Mattingly PSA 10

I've seen it for sale as high as $1200 but not $2000.

Yeah, 4SC is going to ask that based on the last PWCC sale.

As a card collector since boyhood and a Donnie fan, the 1984 Topps Donnie will always be an image that elicits a truly Pavlovian response. Many in a certain age group feel the same way about the Donnie Topps RC, and the Tiffany version has always held a special high status for the Donnie collector, the highest in fact of all his cards, for many of us. Was not shocked to see that card spike when two fervid collectors wanted it at the right time. I've always kept three cards on my desk my whole life-- 84T&D Donnie, and 86T Donnie.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Thanks, Doug. Just a blip on the radar then.

Agreed. I don't see any reason for that card to remain at that level. It should go back to the mean.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

I have seen this effect take place on a couple of insert sets I collect. All it takes is one sale and BAM, all of a sudden everyone bumps their price up. In my case, it was a Barry Sanders insert...I had been buying them for $40 each, someone lists one at $200 MB, it gets sold (dont know if it was a shill or not), and now everyone from Burbank SC and others now list these at $100-$150, yet none ever sell at that at that price. Even commons from the set which were going for $5 are now being listed at $15-$0 or more. Patience is the key
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Burbank just listed several 84D raw NM/MT (as is everthing they sell, and often times over-graded) at $40 each while on ebay sales rarely break $20. NM/MT PSA 8 will be lucky to get $20. And some one-off sellers are selling shabby looking copies for more than $40 (even up to $80) and some other sellers are following suit. Ugh.

The population has risen quite in less than 2 years, I think that I popped #18 and 19. VCP at that time was right at 1K and has remained constant with the population increase until the spike to $1950.
