What is this gold icon??

    Looks old. Maybe Byzantine era, if it's real. Very neat looking. I like how the gems are mounted in an ancient or early medieval style.



    Can't tell you much else.

    It looks like it could be a Templar Cross on the reverse. Kool piece. Keep me in mind when you want to sell it. Can you provide a size and weight for this piece. image

  • It is indeed a Icon of our Christ God, seated on a throne, with the book of holy scripture while giving blessing. It may be the Icon of Judgement, but I can't see enough detail to say. Also the jewels at the bottom have me stumped.

    If there is a Greek Orthodox Church around, You can take it to the priest and he very well could tell you.

    It is quite lovely, and if ever you should part with it I would be interested.
