It appeared to mey that many had flights out at 230-300, so it would seem like those had been planned that way long in advance. Yes, I could have been there earlier, but the same applies to collectors, we have other things going on also.
I was just shocked that by 130 that so many had packed up already. I understand what it feels like to sit and wait for someone to come thru the door. I have had my own business and it is very trying to wait for the paying customer stop in. I had posted hours of being open for business and unless it was a real emergency, you could find me sitting and waiting for either the customer or the time to go home.
I will have to say the worst was doing trade shows, it is a lot to setup, tear down and lugging all that stuff around. It was not my favorite thing to do so I did very few of them.
I will just have to try harder to get there on the weekdays. I guess its a simple as that.

Yes..The advertised show hours should be changed if this is the norm . You can't have a collector driving even just 45 mins each way to a show that is advertised as 80 dealers only to find that under 10 remain on Sunday .. When dealers are standing around crying that there are no customers then you can consider this to be ONE of the many reasons .
While I am not a dealer and obviously neither are you, you have to put yourself in their place. They are business people. They are there to make a living and a profit not entertain you.
I am sorry you were disappointed. Next time try to go earlier. You would have a better selection. Maybe a coin you wanted would have been available. As regards to FUN, I am there when the doors open and have never been there at the close. I would wager that many dealers have already gone home from there also.
You have made so many assumptions that are totally incorrect.. First off I did not attend the show, so I could not be disappointed, however it is one of the only larger shows that I could reach by car and that's around 3 hours each way..Based on these reports then I wouldn't even bother attempting the show unless it could be on the first day .. Secondly I may not call myself a coin dealer, but I am a collectibles, antiques, sports memorabilia ,etc..dealer and have done shows ranging from a local Elks Lodge to Nationally advertised shows.. I've owned a B&M, run retail chain stores, did flea markets, yard sales , etc etc ..
I think with over 30 years experience of being a dealer and a hoarder collector that I clearly can see perfectly from both sides of the coin..
I don't expect the dealers to ENTERTAIN me as you have phrased it as I knew I wasn't going to the circus or a concert ..
I will again state that if the shows majority of dealers will not be there then it's time for the promotors to take a look at the situation and change the hours ..
Like Gary said and I totally agree if hours open are advertised then that is what a professional business owner should live up to ..
How would you like to run to CVS on a Sunday at 5:30, because they are open until 6 only to find the doors shut .. The Manager decided things were too slow, so in the company's interests they decided to close early..
Either adjust, adapt or expect to hear similar complaints..
The Internet has changed the business marketplace for every industry , so the coin industry is no different.
