Who Cares.
Who Cares.
I'm guessing you don't...but I do. I think it's cool.
Roy Rogers is a good example of how all glory is fleeting. When I was a kid in the early 1950's Roy Rogers was a very, very popular TV show. My room had Roy Rogers drapes and a Roy Rogers bedspread. Roy and Dale opened a museum in, I believe, Victorville, California and it was a popular site while Roy and Dale were still living. I understand they often gave the guided tours themselves. When Roy and Dale passed away the museum continued for some years but Roy's style of Western had long since gone very, very much out of style and out of favor. His once popular singing with the Sons of the Pioneers also faded in popularity. I seem to recall that the museum was moved to Branson, Mo but eventually closed. All of the contents were auctioned, the car shown in this post included. In another twenty to twenty-five years or so Roy may very well be little remembered as is the case with most entertainers once their fans pass from the scene.
Aptly stated, 291 fifth. What you said is really sad---but true. [sigh]
