Anybody have any issue with Probstein shipping?

We bought a Kevin Durant BGS 9 autograph for our PC. The card seemed to be packed well but he didn't put the graded card in a graded sleeve or any protection so it scratched a brand new BGS holder. You can tell it is a brand new holder except this one scratch down the middle. It seems so avoidable.

He has advertisements on the holder but not protection. It seems impossible but surely not everybody receives their items packed like this. That is why I am asking. When you purchase from him do they come this way as well?

  • Have you messaged the seller? I'm sure he would work with you to resolve the issue.

It's not something I want to return/have him reholder/etc. I'm not one of those that ask for partial refunds. That's just not right. Either accept it or return. With that said, I'm trying to figure out from those who have purchased a graded card from him if all graded cards are shipped that way. If they are have they had damaged/scratched cases in the past. I want to know that so I can skip over his graded auctions.

Most times my cards have been wrapped in bubble wrap so no problems.

There is a product called Novus which is great for buffing out even deeper scratches on holders.

Was it packed good or bad?

Did you double check the original scan?

  • They are a high volume seller, so I'm sure there are issues (as there are with every seller). My cards have always arrived undamaged, though, with bubble wrapping inside a bubble mailer.

I will see if I can find that. Thanks, Tim.

You can use what Tim suggested or a good quality car wax. I use a product called Zmol and it works fantastic. It removes scratches and polishes up the whole slab

Was the card "dead centered"? That's all that matters.

I have purchased many times and have always received them well-protected and packaged.

I, for one, am not really thrilled about receiving 1 card in the mail and along with it comes several self promoting ads.

That is probably why I don't buy from them very often.

Not to mention that all of his auctions end at exactly the same time.

    Just my 2 cents...

    Later, Paul.

Probstein is usually very fast shipping but they do not provide graded card sleeves. As a seller I do because I am a collector and that is what I would want. But I understand why others don't. It is an added cost and he moved a lot of cards.

ETA: they do wrap the card in bubble wrap inside of a bubble mailer so I do think they ship the cards in an acceptable fashion. My preference would be to have the sleeve too but IMO that is bonus points for a seller to provide that.
