So I just got a chargeback dropped on me via paypal from an ebay transaction 60 days ago. Sale was for a serialized derek jeter auto insert card to "cardbuzz2000."
I have sold many items on ebay, but never ever have I dealt with a chargeback, let alone one dropped with no communication from the buyer.
Note this was alerted to me by paypal, not ebay.
Paypal has directed me to provide proof that I shipped the card to the address listed on the ebay purchase. I am hoping this is enough to stiff arm me soaking up a $250 loss here.
Any advice on how to proceed in order to ensure I do not lose out here?
Opinions/recommendations requested. TY

I am assuming you still have the Tracking information; that would prove what address it was shipped to
Good Luck

You can start by giving PayPal what they asked for. As long as you followed their rules when shipping, and provide the info they are now asking for, it should be a slam dunk for you to win the case.
Only on eBay, Paypal has a longer dispute window.
It is now 180 days.
"Effective Date: November 18, 2014
Dispute Filing Window
We're increasing the time for buyers to file a merchandise dispute (Item Not Received and Significantly Not as Described) from 45 days to 180 days. All references in the User Agreement to "Opening a Dispute within 45 days" have been updated to reflect "Opening a Dispute within 180 days." The Sections these changes appear include the Introduction, 3.15, 13.2 and 13.5.""
You should be fine. Even if the CC finds against you, PP has seller protections that preserve the funds as long as you follow their policies.
It will honestly depend on how diligent Paypal is with disputing the charge ,and the regulations of what credit/debit card company (if a card) was involved in the transaction. It's not always a clear cut case. The banks and Paypal have to follow the processors guidelines. (visa, discover, etc) to dispute. For an example..... if this was processed with a Visa card... they might follow up asking for signed proof of delivery. Even if the address is a match.
Start out by sending Paypal the proper tracking information ,and they should be assisting from there.
Good luck
The particular issue the OP is having has nothing to do with the normal dispute process between buyer - credit card company - seller. It is an Ebay transaction involving PayPal and if the OP followed the rules then he will be eligible for seller protection from PayPal. If the seller followed the rules and provides PayPal the required info, the seller gets to keep the money because it will be eligible for his seller protection deal with PayPal. It then becomes PayPal's problem, and potential loss, fighting the charge back with the card company and buyer.
A common problem is for the person who has the credit card to say it was a fraudulent charge and that they didn't authorize it. Even though they bid, won and left feedback the credit card company for some odd reason is on their side.
The end result is PayPal said they realized I had presented all the information needed and while they settled with the credit card company they covered the loss and I was exonerated and got the funds they had reversed from me back.
I was so pissed. The scumbag got quite a few Ebay messages from me during the process that weren't very kind.

The two times I've had to dispute fraudulent charges to my credit card I had to sign an affidavit stating they were indeed fraudulent before getting my money refunded. I would think falsifying the affidavit would take the matter to whole new level of illegal activity.
Why would anyone go there over a few hundred dollar baseball card? Crazy.
I've got to figure out how you guys are putting previous quotes in boxes.
Have been selling on FeeBay since Dec. of 1997 and have had 3 CC chargebacks against me over that time. Been about 4 years since the last one but even with proof of delivery on all 3 chargebacks eBay still peed in my cool-aid and reversed the funds and I was out the money all 3 times. Thankfully all 3 transactions were for under $100 a piece but still burned me that even with positive feedback, proof of delivery to the address confirmed via PP and with some back and forth communications through eBay showing at least 1 person was very happy with the item and looking for more similar items I was SOL everytime.
I hope things have changed over the last couple years but depending on who the CC is through think AMEX or Discover there is a good chance PP will cave and may leave you hanging.

As long as evilbay allows buyers to hold sellers hostage, these kind of scammers will keep on doing it.
