Question about the Dmitri Young Collection

Do cards with this pedigree really carry this much of a premium??

No. I saw it earlier today and I would only go to maybe $30 on that card (which is probably more of a premium than it deserves).

That's an asinine premium attached there. Insane. Of course some damn fool may buy it at that price image

Do people really like to have that designation on the card? Dmitri was good for the hobby but it's not like he is a HOF player.

I bet he would have doubled his money (Dimitri) if he waited and sold in 14/15 instead of 12.

Looks like that's about 3x a normal sale, the Larkin is listed at about 40x.

i have a few and like pedigreed cards, none of the crazy hard early ones but shot that guy a $50 offer about 2 weeks ago when it was first listed.

he immediately replied w/ a snarky counter offer.

but yes as kyle said, 2x 3x is a possibility but 40x is barry funny!

  • Ive never really seen or got a premium for his. But kind of hard to tell with an already highly desired rook.

We're up to 47x with the latest relist: Link If people weren't interested at $600, is relisting at $700 going to help?

i saw that. it started off at $500 originally. $700? even if he moved the decimal over a spot, it probably still wouldn't sell....

Only if you let the seller have a premium like that...

when he sold them all off and for a little bit after there was a premium....but i think the hype is gone....im down to paying a 0% premium and put more weight on it based on the card inside

i sold a couple and pretty much got no premium and didnt expect any. I happened to find one that i forgot about. Shows how important it is to me anyways

  • Come on now, it's rico dog. That alone deserves a premum
    It never leaves you...
  • I vastly overpaid for my only Dmitri Young Collection card, but it had only to do with the fact it was a PSA 10 pop 1. Would have paid pretty much whatever the seller asked for, either way.

But for a card for which multiple copies exist at the same grade? Nah, wouldn't pay a premium. In fact, I might have to be getting a discount. On some of these, I would bet Dmitri kept submitting the same 9s over and over again until he got a friendly grader. Even mine, if I'm being completely honest.

vandweller..i agree but thats more due to the cards rarity..you could put anyones name on the flip

I believe Dimitri employed someone who looked for high grade cards and resubmitted many 9's in an effort to get 10's. Nothing wrong with that, he had quite the collection many 1 of 1 10's. I wouldn't pay a premium because it had his name on it.

  • Agreed. I'm not paying a premium because he owned it. Would you pay a premium because Mr Mint owned it? He bought the card then sold it. The card is the card, it knows no owners.

I must admit that I've considered getting it reholdered. Maybe I'll put "The Vandweller Collection". image

If I recall, didn't Dmitri have to sell his collection due to a divorce?
