Other grader options for PSA Min Size Req card?

I just found out my beautiful 1971 Topps Harmon Killebrew got the dreaded Min Size Req. I know some people just re-sub until they get a card slabbed but I'm wondering if people who have had N6 cards have had any luck subbing to another TPG company.

I've had good luck with SGC holdering some MSQ cards. I've also resubbed to PSA and have gotten some graded as well, but it may take a couple of times depending on how short the card is.

I've heard people say re-sub many times. I can see if you don't get the grade you want but with minimum size, I would think a measurement is pretty definitive.

That would be logical, but grading is highly subjective. Centering and size are the only truly objective measurements, but there is still wiggle room in those evaluations.

ETA: Do you have a scan available?
  • Resub to PSA a lot before moving on. It's basically free. Then, SGC/BGS depending on the time period of the card.

I've had lots of luck re-subbing when I felt the min size decision was unjust. That is, I measured the card, and it was no smaller than other cards that had successfully graded. I would think if the card is hardcore undersized, it would be tougher to get a desirable outcome.

It depends on how short the card is. I have a beautiful '71 Jim Shellenback that is short side to side, a common problem with '71s. I've probably submitted it 7 or 8 times. All but once I got N6. The only anomaly is they once deemed it as having evidence of trimming. It isn't free to submit these. I figure it costs about $1 for shipping and handling costs to get it to and from PSA. Of course an altered designation will cost the full grading fee. I've had success getting slightly short cards holdered after a try or two but if they are significantly undercut, the probability of holdering goes way down. I've never tried other grading services, so I can't comment on how they handle these.
