MLB regular season awards announcements

Always wondered why MLB does not announce the awards when the regular season ends. Thereby giving no chance of suspicion that the post-season does influence voters decisions. I know they say post-season performance does not influence the voting, but occasionally I wonder. Thoughts?

The votes are already in - they just don't announce the winners until later.

I am pretty sure this is how most major sports do it. At least the NBA does the same thing. I'm pretty sure they like to spread out the announcements to draw more attention to the sport.

Yet another post that should be in the Sports Talk forum. That being said, I agree with you that they should mention awards before playoffs begin.

    Two words: Roger Peckinpaugh

Roger was the 1925 AL MVP. They announced it before the World Series. He then went out and committed 8 errors as Washington lost in 7. It was felt he rated poorly to the pressure and now they announce after the playoffs.
