When I found out Joe Montana would be at the Chantilly, Va. show in October I knew it would be a good opportunity for my sister to get her husband a personalized signed photo, something she has talked about doing in the past. Money is tight for them right now with two young boys and a daughter about to go to college, but he's about to retire from the Air Force and this is something she wanted to get for him so she got the $280 signing fee together and sent it to me. He has been a Montana fan since he was a child.
We narrowed it down to a specific photo and I asked the board for help locating one. ergoism located the photo at ProLook Photos.
I called Eddie Kelly at ProLook and told him that I would need the photo by Saturday (today) for the Chantilly, Va. show. I did not have my wallet with me, so I couldn't pay over the phone, instead, he sent a Paypal invoice Monday and it shipped out Tuesday.
Yesterday I emailed Eddie for the tracking and he said it looks like it will arrive Monday! No!! BUT he said he knows Joe Montana's agent and that I will be at the show, so he sent one with him just in case mine didn't come! He contacted Montana's agent, then emailed me back with his contact info and said to text him when I get to the show.
When I got to Chantilly I texted his agent and we met up to get the photo. I thanked him and explained it's for my brother-in-law, he is retiring from the Air Force and we really wanted this particular photo. I showed him the inscription (I had it written down so Montana wouldn't spell Curt "Kurt") and his agent paused and said, "Don't worry about buying tickets, I know Joe will want to do that one for him"
No Charge! WOW!
When I gave the news to my sister she was crying on the other line.
I can't thank Joe Montana, his agent, Eddie Kelly and ergoism enough for helping me put this together. Knowing that this item is coming straight from Joe Montana will make it even more meaningful to my brother-in-law.
Turned out great, too! Photo is a 16x20. She plans to have it professionally framed before giving it to him.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Thanks for sharing such a nice heart warming story with us. I hope Curt enjoys the picture and thank him for me for his service to our country.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Stories like this remind me that there are some nice people out there. Great job by all that helped make this happen.
