Has anyone else had their NCG coin imaged by PCGS?

fcloudfcloud Posts: 12,133 ✭✭✭✭
A number of years ago I sent an NCG MS66 1928-Large S Dime to PCGS for grading and attribution. The coin graded MS65 at our hosts. What I have always thought was interesting about this coin is that PCGS photographed the coin while still in the NGC holder. Has this happened to you? Post some images if it has.

Here is the link. http://www.pcgs.com/cert/24068800

If photos are taken prior to grading and you sent it in for cross, I could see this happening.
    Maybe procedures are different today?

I bet those prongs could be PhotoShopped out of the pictures.
    I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.

Therein lies the problem. They eat such big bites out of the coin's visible surfaces that one would have to make up detail to Photoshop them out.

PCGS' subtler, clear plastic prongs are far, far, superior, and that ain't just the Kool-Aid talkin'.

Sorry for the diversion. I don't know the answer to the question in the OP, but that's a lovely coin, and in fact the ghastly white prongs don't seem quite as intrusive in these pictures as in some I've seen.

That's the first time I've seen an NGC image on a PCGS cert page like that.

It's possible to get a 4 prong clear holder similar to the following from CMC, a PCGS partner. I actually like this slab because there's more empty space around the coin.

  • Photographed on December 27th 2011. I don't remember how or why this happened, but I doubt it would ever happen again now. Weird.

    Phil,

That was a long time ago. I don't remember anything odd about my order way back then, but it may have been the first 1928-S Large S imaged by you. Possibly for Coin Facts?
