Help in selling my coin collection

I am looking for help from forum members in selling my coin collection. I have not been an active collector for about 30 years. For this reason I have no relationship with any coin dealers. Now in my 70's I don't want these coins to become a potential liability for family members who have no interests in coins. I am looking for buyers who come recommended by forum members as paying fair value for the coins they purchase. Hopefully I can receive suggestions for dealers who have interests in the coin sets listed below. I live in east-central Ohio but spend winters in South Carolina. However, I have no problem sending coins via mail to recommended buyers. My sincere thanks to any members willing to help me with this request. Any response can be posted to the BST or by PM.

Hi Ricman, and welcome to the boards, as they are sometimes referred. I would make one suggestion before you begin. Take digital photos of all you have or have them taken for you. Make sure they are good photos with both sides of the coin and the holder. Then you can send these photos to potential buyers or email them. Second there are collectors here who may be interested in these coins but they need to see them. Have pictures enables you to send to multiple people while minimizing risk.

    I hope that helps.

Oh, and make sure your PM feature is turned on. That stands for Private Message. In your profile you can "allow" these, that turns them on.

I'd recommend Glenn at Americana Rare Coin. He has a special interest in Barber coinage and has always been very fair with me.

Good advice. I saw him at the Sacto Coin Club show today. Learned he now has a B&M shop so more exposure.
    He's a good guy.

To the top for another day. Still looking for any additional recommended buyers. Many thanks for the response I have received and I will be back in touch with those who have responded to my post.
  • This forum is a great place to sell in my opinion, collector's like yourself usually get top dollar for their coins unless it is an usual coin/set such as: very old series, extremely high grade (pop 2/1, 1/0 etc), wild natural toning or rare, for those coins you may want to go to a specialized dealer.

So with that I have 3 suggestions:

1 - Take the advice given for the Bust Halves and if you have any other unusual coins let the forum know. You have some very nice pieces but from what I see, everything else can most likely be sold here at a fair price that both you and your buyers will be happy with.

2 - Post pictures of what you are selling with prices

3 - This thread is probably more appropriate for the Q&A forum, as long as there are no items for sale and we are all collaborating regarding how to best sell your collection.

Best of luck selling your coins.
    All the best,

    Rob

I didn't see any advice given for the bust halves, just the Barbers.
