Any luck crossing BGS 9 1993 Sp Jerer's to Psa 9?

With the price difference between PSA 9 Jeters at 1k plus and BIN BGS Jeters in the $300 range, anyone try to cross any over? If so any success?

I haven't tried, but I would imagine it would come down to buying the right BGS 9. For that set, I'd say pick up the one with the best surface you can find, since that is the aspect that seems to bring down the PSA grade the most.

Look at the price difference between what a BGS 9 sells for if it has a 9.5 surface plus 9 corners in the sub grades, compared with an 8.5 corners and/or 9 surface. That is the difference between what will cross and what won't.

  • It's a good question and I'm sure it's been attempted by many on numerous occasions. You have to factor in min size req. for this card a lot
    It never leaves you...
  • I had a BGS 9 with subs of 9.5, 9.5, 9.5, and 8.5 (Surface) and I cracked it out and subbed to PSA for an 8 the first try then I cracked it out and it came back Min Size. WTF!!!

Do not crack out a BGS 9. Only sub for crossover. The surface is too sensitive and makes it not worth the risk of damage. Also, it is very very rare to have a card not cross due to min. size when in another company's holder compared with a crack-out of the same card. Just be picky about what BGS cards you buy for the purpose of crossover and pay attention to the subgrades when comparing among them.

Markets are fairly efficient. With an average of a threefold plus spread between the two if it was a common occurrence the spread would narrow and cause the PSA graded example to fall. It doesn't seem to be happening.

A good collecting friend bought a BGS 9 and he didn't think it would even grade a PSA 8 and sold it.

With a 20 fold spread between the BGS 9.5 and the PSA 10 I think others have figured out their chances are just not that good for any of the top grades to cross over.

I have tried once to PSA and once to BGS. Both times I left the card in the graded case and sent it in for review. Both times the card came back in the same case because it did not cross or get bumped.

    I submitted a 93 sp jeter with 9.5, 9.5, 9 (corners), 8.5 (surface) and it did not cross to a PSA 9.

I submitted a 93 sp jeter with 9.5, 9.5, 9 (corners) , 9 (surface) to BGS for a sub grade review to see if one of those 9's would get bumped to a 9.5....giving me an overall grade of 9.5. It did not.

If I play the "regrade" or "crossgrade" game again....It will be cracking the cards out and submitting raw. For the 93 sp jeter though...being so condition sensitive I wouldn't want to crack and submit raw. So Im done with the grading game for this particular card, lol

  • 8.5 is the highest grade BGS I have cracked out. Subbed it 3 times. EOT twice and finally landed in a 7. Then I gave up.

  • I bought 6 raw Jeter SPs at the national. Sent them in to PSA and all 6 of them came back EOT. I looked very carefully at the cards before buying them and then again before I submitted them and didn't see anything that would make me think they had been trimmed. I am contemplating sending them in again to PSA or just trying BGS.

  • I found this BGS 9 at the National and cracked and subbed it! Some people would call it a good eye I would call it lucky. Seeing as this card is a POP 3.

I think that this is a great point and really good advice. The surface and chipping in the corners is what usually kills this card. You are facing an uphill climb because of the politics involved when PSA is considering a BGS slab for a cross over and I definitely wouldn't crack this card out. Good luck.
