1996 Topps NBA 50th cards

Can anyone tell me how these were distributed and is there a known print run to them?

  • I don't believe they were in set form, just in packs, 1:6 maybe is my guess.

I think they did come in sets but not sure if they came elsewhere too.

I ripped a set about a year ago and got Penny Hardaway.
52-90 All Sports, Mostly Topps, Mostly HOF, and some assorted wax.
  • I don't have any information about print run, but I often see them incorrectly listed as "chrome" because when I was searching for one to add to the collection I almost pulled the trigger on one that seemed fairly cheap until I realized the difference. The base chrome RC is worth considerably more so I can't believe they are crazy rare.
  • The 50th cards are nothing more than a parallel to the base Topps set.I've never seen them in set form.I believe they were 1:4 or maybe a shade higher.People will try to pass them as Chrome, like mentioned above, due to the chrome like foil finish.I'm no expert in grading but I'd imagine that getting the bigger names in top grades is pretty hard.If I remember correctly that year had problems with cards sticking together and centering was a moderate issue.
    I really like serious people.
