eBay gamble.. plus, ebay bucks on bullion? hell yeah!

took a gamble on this one. not an expensive or rare coin by any means, but hopefully it is nice in-hand.
seller pics were not great, but the seller (a reputable dealer) called it a gem proof.. we'll see. auction ended at $65.10:

second, while looking for something to buy during the 5x ebay bucks promo last week, i was surprised to see that APMEX on eBay moved their Mexico 50 Pesos coins to the "world coins" category (from the bullion category where it's usually listed). that meant the coins were eligible for ebay bucks. not just that, but APMEX for some reason now didn't charge sales tax on sales to NY?? that was the reason why i stoped buying from them..
anyway, they listed a random date Mexico 50 pesos coin (1.2057 Oz AGW) for ~1,440, no tax, free shipping. ebay bucks knocked off another $100, and so i picked up 2 - not only at no premium, but actually a little under melt.. no complaints. [advertised as coins in AU or BU condition. i got them today. one is AU with some copper spots and a hit on the obverse. second one - a beautiful unc piece]
today APMEX had a special deal price on 1 Oz gold Maple Leaf - only $35 over spot. this is clearly a bullion item, right? APMEX ACTUALLY moved their gold maple leaf listing into the "coins; Canada>other Canadian coins" category, making them eligible for ebay bucks as well (and again, no sales tax and free shipping). after ebay bucks, came out to $1,147, or just $11.50 over spot.
guess i'll be back for more when my ebay bucks cert arrives
