PCGS Attribution for New Cherry Pickers Varieties

What is the expected timeline for PCGS to begin attributing any of the new varieties listed in Cherry Pickers Guide?

It's been so long since the last edition, I'm drawing a blank.

I would think that as soon as they have the reference material in hand. I have been wrong before.

If I recall, it took a couple of months last time for PCGS to make their decisions on what was going to be added to the variety registry sets. Then, once the coins were added to the registry sets you were able to get attributions done. It took a couple of months with the last book.

Yeah, I still have the '37 Mercury ddo #1 in a PCGS attributed holder with a dead certification # after they changed their
mind. Still aggravated about that one. Faroane should decide up front before people start sending in the new varieties.

Just got off the phone with Customer Service on this question, and was told it may take up to a year for the new varieties to be attributed.

My sentiments exactly. Why would you need a year to do what most anybody can accomplish in a simple flip of a page? PCGS is not researching anything here; they are simply verifying what the submitter is telling them!

From a customer service perspective, I completely understand this answer. It makes complete sense to hedge your answer; underpromise and over deliver. That being said, if it really does take nearly a year, they told you so!

I was told something different by a higher source and they said as soon as they get their copy of the CPG the wheels will be in motion shortly there after. So we shall see.

PCGS customer service has not been on top of things, at least latley. I would think (silly me) that they should be able to attribute them within a fairly short period of time of publication of the reference material is readily available. "Up to a year" means somewhere between one and 365 days, the are just covering thier backside. Heck, they cannot seem to attribute a QDO commemorative I sent them.
