Case Breaks

Not sure how things been in years past as far as case breaks but seem like this year has been great. I think everything from the 80's Topps Baseball wise has been broke! Has an 83' Topps Baseball Wax Case been broke this year? Pretty cool to have been apart of some and start a collection image

  • I don't believe that I've seen any box rips just for packs since I've been on here the last few months! Some people do rip their packs while others may get them PSA graded to add to their collection PSA 8's or 9's or collection on years for example 1980 - 1990. I do agree though on some box not worth packing out do to the overall value of the box.
  • Yea...that's what I'm talking about. At the prices wax sold for years ago one could buy a whole box to rip. One thread the box rip had 81 Topps FB at $11 a pack and 87 Fleer BskB at almost $30 a pack! What a huge jump and to those that kept their boxes if they sold them today could come really nice!

I did notice that BBCE has a bunch of early-mid 80s baseball cases that aren't technically FASC but from the description they seem like the next best thing. Could be good candidates to rip.

If you have clean cases, interested in selling somewhat below retail (no eBay fees or possible 'freak show' buyers on the other end) and running the break through Steve @ BBCE (assuming he's interested), please post or if more comfortable send a PM and/or contact Steve @ BBCE. For example, maybe you are not sure about selling a case but would if you're able to keep (5) FASC boxes. Something like this would be very possible. Right now, I think 80s football would move very fast as well as 88/89 and 89/90 Fleer as well as anything 70s basketball.

What is retail value? Are you seeing cases sell pretty frequently to establish market value? You can talk retail on a box or a pack but a case you can't. For those collectors that have a case of something (1980 Topps) why would the seller discount a penny to sell this? Furthermore, why would some one that has a CLEAN case want to do this? The value of a sealed case will always carry a premium and one that I would never discount if I sold one. Congrats to you for getting Steve to break these two cases for the group rip so all can enjoy but I would have never done this as a collector or a seller.

Thank you for buying that case and I am glad you enjoyed it. My point is that a sealed case from certain years do not get a discounted price and should get a premium for higher quality case. I offered top dollar for sealed cases on the BST and got zero responses. I was not looking for a discount but just the opportunity to purchase a quality case. I understand for asking a discount on a case but I am referring to the cases you just to see come up for sale.
