I returned one coin to Heritage, the images hid (shadowed) a gross anomaly, but not bad enough to render a "details" grade. Since it was my first return and I had a long line of auction activity with them they accepted the return. From what I understand it is usually not the norm though.

Go to the site and read the "terms and conditions" (under "help"). You will find their return policy:
<< <i>You may return lots under the following conditions: Within three days of receipt of the lot, you must first notify Auctioneer by contacting Client Service by phone (877-HERITAGE (437-4824)) or e-mail (Bid@HA.com), and immediately ship the lot(s) fully insured to the attention of Returns, Heritage, 3500 Maple Avenue, 17th Floor, Dallas TX 75219-3941. Lots must be housed intact in their original holder and condition. You are responsible for the insured, safe delivery of any lots. A non-negotiable return fee of 5% of the purchase price ($10 per lot minimum) will be deducted from the refund for each returned lot or billed directly. Postage and handling fees are not refunded. After the three-day period (from receipt), no items may be returned for any reason. Late remittance for purchases revokes these Return privileges. >>
As a note - if you let them know prior to shipping, I bet that they would just take payment for the 5% of the purchase price and not go through the hassle of shipping.[

The above policy is ONLY for auctions conducted solely on the Internet. "Signature auctions" are not returnable unless there is an extreme condition such as a gross cataloging error. Lance.
Comments
I've heard of cases where bidders get the return privilege exactly once, and are then barred from any future bidding.
The first time I consined coins to them this is what I was told when asked if a buyer could return coins after the auction.

If you want to keep bidding on HA, then you should enjoy your new coin. Or you can tell them to not ship it and relist for sale at HA.
