Have you ever sold yourself something on eBay to cash your eBay bucks?

I was thinking of listing something (anything) on my wife's account for the exact price of my eBay bucks then my eBay bucks are cashed in her account minus fees. Cash minus 13% might be better than force buying something.

Sounds like a good way to lose 13%.

I always spend my ebucks on underpriced error coins for inventory.

  • I'm not as smart as you and don't always find underpriced stuff. Not a good plan for you.

No, but I used a dollar bill to wipe with when there was no toilet paper at a rest stop along the highway. It was either that or my cell phone.

It is a perfect plan to get banned.

If you have multiple accounts that access eBay from the same IP address they can't interact.
It will look like shill bidding.
  • How can it be shill if buy it now? I'm starting to think maybe not a good idea. My wife has her own computer.

If your bidding on your own stuff thats shilling by eBay's rules. Only ones allowed by law to shill is Auction Houses in most states.

If you buy your own item at a buy it now price it is not shill anything. eBay is perfectly happy to take the fees from you even when you are buying your own stuff. Yes you can buy your own item with eBay bucks and lose the 8 or 13% fees if you so choose.

just don't throw dollar bills out of a car window
    cops don't like it
especially when you counter their blah-blah-blah & belief that's it's littering by saying..."show me the judge who'll rule money as being litter"

If you and your wife live in the same house, you have the same IP address.

eBay monitors IP addresses between sellers and buyers and they can't be the same.

Mad Marty once met a friend for lunch and showed they guy a coin he had listed. The friend bid on it using MM's laptop.

    30 Day suspension.

This is not true at all anymore. AND you can now bid on auctions of friends and family. That was changed a couple years ago.

agentjim007, aside from the shill bidding issue, that is actually a good idea. You can also carry it a step further... after the sell, cancel it on ebay (item no longer available, etc...) ... then the fees will be re-imbursed! A neat way to cash ebay bucks for cash!

If a sale is cancelled, eBay bucks are put back in your account. They are dumb, but not quite that dumb!!

If you buy a "BUY IT NOW" item, there can be no SHILL. You are not bidding anyone else up.

That didn't happen last time to me.... used ebay bucks, seller cancelled, all showed up in my paypal account. Perhaps just a fluke....

  • I like the gift card idea. Have to see if they have some from Shell or BP, can always use gas. That's what I do with my CC card points, I get BP gift cards.

If you send something back you bought with eBay bucks, and they refund the money to cancel the sale, they come back to you as eBay bucks in your account. I guess I never thought about just cancelling a sale and saying it was a goodwill credit or something. I suspect that would throw red flags if it happens all the time on your own eBay bucks!
  • The problem with you premise is that the Ebay fees (10%) are greater than the Ebay Bucks (2%). Even volume sellers won't get their Ebay fees under 2%. You'd just be giving money to Ebay with no advantage.

But if you cancel the auction, not only are the Ebay & PayPal fees refunded, but the Ebay Bucks are also removed so you're back where you started. No way to keep Ebay Bucks and avoid Ebay Fees. You can do a local pickup to avoid the PayPal fees.

If the seller cancels, that's a defect and one step closer to being suspended.

No. Coincidentally when I deposited it later, the bank teller sniffed her fingers and said, " … it smells like money to me " image

Guess what I asked her ? " Do you waste money ? "
