Most HOF QBs starting in a single season?

I've been pondering this for a while, since my modern football player collections are primarily QBs. I think there are 4 locks for the HOF at QB this season (P Manning, Brady, Rodgers, & Brees) with several others with possibilities (Romo, Luck, E Manning, etc.), but looking at the HOF inductions QB seems to be one of the hardest positions to be inducted for w/only 23 in the modern era (compared to 78 offensive/defensive linemen). Is it even possible that 7-10 QBs starting this year end up in the HOF? I'm thinking I may need to start diversifying a bit more outside of QBs in my player collections. RBs seem too risky healthwise and linemen don't get any hobby love (if they're even included in the FB sets), so not sure what other direction to go.

There is 1 QB playing at a time, and upwards of 9 offensive/defensive lineman. QB is easier to get into HOF.

That said, your missing Roethlisberger. No chance Romo gets in.

<< <i>eli and ben r. are not locks with two super bowl victories a piece? >>

Eli is so inconsistent I think it will hurt him with HOF voters. I can't name 5 great statistical years of his career, 2 SB victories is the only stat that gets him considered. Big Ben benefitted from a rock solid defense and great running game, not sure he's a lock, but wouldn't have any issues with him getting in. He's part of the 'etc.' of possibles I forgot image If Romo gets two SB victories, I'd give him better odds than either.

Super Bowl victories do not get you a place in the HOF. It's just a piece of the puzzle. I think everything else puts Eli on the outs. The HOF should be the best of the best of the best. I wouldnt put Eli in the Top 5 of any season he's played. Having said that, I think that Ben gets in. He's had a lot of great years and is a one of a kind QB that early in his career was different from the rest. I also doubt Romo would get in. He's a case of Eli, but with 0 super bowls (and the butt-end of a lot of jokes).

There's also the "probable, but too early to say" case for Luck.

Also, Mariota is on pace for 64 Throwing TDs, which would break the single season record, so dont count him out! JK

They may not all look like HOF'ers now but a few not even mentioned (Rookies, Late Bloomers)
may end up on your list.

1971 saw 10 starting QB'S (Some started from game 1 and some due to injury) make the HOF.

Unitas, Starr, Griese, Namath, Dawson, Jurgensen, Staubach, Tarkenton, Blanda and Bradshaw.

If you looked at that list in 1971 you probably only have Unitas, Starr and Jurgensen as locks.

Tarkenton and Dawson were solid. Staubach was your late bloomer for military reasons.

Blanda maybe because of longevity and Namath for being Namath/SB.

I don't think anyone looks at that list in 1971 and has Bradshaw or Griese as HOF'ers!

So you never know other than the obvious locks (Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers) which qb's could be the total surprise!

Thanks! So it's not a completely insane idea that there are that many or nearly that many HOF QBs playing this year. Kaep is looking much improved this year, but I'm not ready to put him or any of the rookies in the HOF discussion yet. I'm sure there will be some surprises as the years go by...

HOF careers are difficult to project. I agree with the four locks Kyle mentioned. As for the rest, I think arguments can be made for a few more. I don't think we will see all the QBs on the maybe list make it. Barring injury Luck seems like the heir to the QB championship belt that has been passed from Manning/Brady to Rodgers (current belt holder) and seems to be on pace for a HOF career. After these five, I would handicap the HOF race as: Big Ben (probable), Rivers (possible), E Manning (possible), Romo (possible). All the other QBs are either too young to render judgement or just plain not good enough in my opinion.

No chance is a bit strong don't you think? With one super bowl win, considering the numbers Romo puts up, he will get in easily. Of course a super bowl win is an elusive thing but Romo has a good chance seeing the direction the team seems to be heading.

Leading your team to the playoffs is big something Romo hasn't really done a lot of so
that will hurt him. He needs to win the ring in the next two or three years or he probably
won't get in... Ben I think is a lock. Eli not so much he doesn't win enough for me. He has the
two rings but really that's it.

Really don't think a SB ring is even a necessity. If he stays healthy for just a few more years, he is a lock.

I think rothlisberger and Eli get in. To early to tell with luck. Looks good right now though

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
