RIP Moses. Truly one of the all time greats!!!!
  • The most recent league MVP to pass away. Best player to pass away since Wilt Chamberlain. I always felt he was overlooked in the annals of NBA history. RIP

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
  • RIP big man. Fo Fo Fo
All your money won't another minute buy.
  • RIP Moses. I used to live close by his mothers house in Chester VA. I saw him several time at her house and I remember seeing him after they won the NBA Championship. He gave me his wrist sweatbands from that season.

For a brief time he played for the St Louis Spirits in the ABA with Marvin Barnes, who died just about a year ago. Maurice Lucas was also part of that team. He has also passed

Very sad. What is it with all of these former NBA greats dying way too young????? Chocolate Thunder at 58 a couple weeks ago and a plethora of others in the last year alone: Anthony Mason at 48 and Jerome Kersey at 52 come to mind and I know there's at least a few more who I'm forgetting in the past year or so who didn't even make it to 60. There has to be some correlation between hard dunking and early deathimage

I agree with all who have said it way too soon. One of the all time greats. Arguably one of the most underrated players at his level in the pantheon of all time basketball players.

  • Moses is one of the most underrated players of all time. I read that he is one of four players to score 25k points and grab 15k boards. Kareem, Wilt, and Elvin Hayes were the other three. Remarkable. RIP Moses.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

I saw the report. Does anyone know what happened?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • Completely agree with being underrated. The odd thing is that he was definitely universally respected during his career up to around 1985. People at that time definitely talked about him in the same breath as Dr. J, Kareem, Magic, Bird etc. He just fell completely off the radar after his career was coming to a close.

    edit: after post thought.

I'm thinking Michael's emergence in the NBA probably caused people to forget the likes of Moses and even Dr. J to a certain degree.

Moses was still highly thought of and well respected when the Hawks picked him up in 1988. He was thought to be the missing piece that Dominique needed to get to the East Finals / contend seriously for a title. Didn't work out that way however, too many egos on the 88-90 Hawks teams. image

Sounds as if he had a sudden heart attack. He was in Sprinfield earlier in the weekend for the inductions, and then had traveled to play in a charity golf tournament and passed away the night before.

Very, very sad. However, and not to be morbid, this is the way to go. I remember hearing about how Robin Roberts would sit down and watch the Phillies game every night. Watched the game one night, went to bed, and never got up. After seeing so many people suffer with illnesses, sign me up for this.

Agree with your premise..... but not at 60yo! Suffer at 90 or die quickly at 60? I'll take my chances.

I know from my studies in school a few years back, black men have a heart failure rate 20 x's higher than white men. Besides the 2 you mentioned, athletes that I can think of, in the recent past that died from heart related issues were Reggie White and Chris Mims of the San Diego Chargers. I'm sure there have been more though.
