Do old Russian roubles ever have gold toning?

I bought a mint state 1854 rouble with golden toning on both sides. Almost looks like a gold wash was present. Is this possible?

It is possible somebody did it outside the mint.

Hi, if you give me an email address I can send a jpeg. The coin is an unc for sure but I think it had a gold wash applied. Not sure what it would be worth now or if can be removed without further problems
