A little seriousness, and probably a lesson in stupidity

Yes, I like to kid around a LOT. Some like it, some seem to take offense.

Going a little serious with this one at least image

Is the top picture high hopes ? Will the 2nd picture be the reality ? This one is for the unopened busters of the crowd. Will consolidate and post pics either later tomorrow or over the next couple days.

so it ain't so Joe ! it's so..joe.

or will this happen

No going back now image

The four end cards on each side, including the associated corner dings and not sooo looking good centering.

Tough centering on those so far~good luck the rest of the way.

Good luck! Here's to some 10's image
  • Thank you image Slow going as each and every card is being, we'll say, scrutinized. Actually only in 50 cards so far in an hour image Nothing that would impress as of yet except a probable 8 due to centering Fisk. (so far I should start a company called Three Sharp Corners)

Got an issue here though and would seek advisement. A Leon Roberts, 292T (Traded) card has shown up. A 'traded' card with the T included in a vending box ? Anyone here bust the 76 vending before that could clarify ?
  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,291 ✭✭✭✭✭
I remember opening a lot of wax packs in 1976 and those stupid traded cards were in them. I hated getting them.
So they weren't released after the regular issue cards, but at the same time.
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,735 ✭✭✭✭✭
The traded cards were packaged with regular issue cards but not until later in the season.

Good luck with the vending box. Takes serious balz and coin to go for this rip. Appreciate you sharing this also. 1976 is my second favorite set from the 70's (1973 being my number 1)
  • The cards are all over the place. This is fun. Am in about 75 cards now and have eleven which I guess could be considered 'two cards in one centering' And then the next card is 9 stuff. For those with the hoards of the older stuff, lighten up buttercup and open one up image I can promise it's worth more than the stupid box sittin on a shelf. This is the most fun I've had with cards since....

  • Will do. Gotta admit at this point more in to my stuff (from this box of cards that is ) here than scanning image . Promise to post back pics. it's gotten good.

  • I sooo wish there would be back to back to back Cansecos in this box but I believe this is a little early for him image

    Check out these lovely lads

Will post a bunch of successes later. Not claiming a ton of tens and am barely in to the box but not toooooo bad so far.
  • Just doing the initial card saver thing for any looking presentable. Bunch of 8s, some 9's and some am hoping for the best on others. Bummer on the Rose Seaver and Fisk so far. Long way to go here.

any chance you'd let go of that Chet Lemon rookie?
  • Request please to send a private message on the Chet so I remember to pull it.

Not so hot on the stars yet but a couple nice ones. A little over half the box done.

The QC in this box is insane. None of those cards should have made it out of the warehouse.

The Doyle and the Ryan will fit together. Maybe you can rebuild the sheet? Hoping you come up very short on the sheet of 132 miscuts though. image

    So will Wholford and Stargell.

    ETA: Also Cash and Cuellar.
All your money won't another minute buy.
  • This is it. With the majority of the rest being n the 60/40 70/30 range, along with about 90 that are just fire material.

No Aaron or Bench and those two cards were the cards I bought the box for. Grrrrrr.

Would strongly recommend ripping like this. Especially those that got stashes of this stuff. Fun surpassed the hit. Live a little and let those cards breathe !

Hoping this may bring the unopened prices down too image Insane to pay so much for 70's unopened product. If I can find another 76 vending box though, it's going down image

Maybe you just didn't scan them, but no All Time Greats in the box?

Eck looks nice. Any brett or yount sightings?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • Negative on any All Time Greats, Brett, Yount, Aaron, Bench, but did get that one two in one Ryan card image

With the traded series being included here that kind of knocks down the chances some to hit 'em all. Anyone know if ALL 76 vending had the traded included ? I got go through what's here to check the elite ones for pop and such. Hoping some ae here that are very low 9's

    Me too! Hated getting those
  • Thank you for sharing this rip. I don't have very much unopened for the same reason you busted your vending box. I do have to say, those you scanned had some pretty sharp corners. Good luck on the sub. Lastly, I would like that Nolan Ryan miscut if it's for sale. I have been picking up major miscuts of Hall of Famers. Why, I don't really know!

don't knock carrot top too hard now! ya can a lil because, well duh. but seriously, scott is actually a pretty cool guy and can play some serious percussions.

he has great tastes in music and his game/bar room is full of vintage and priceless music posters and he collects cardboard as well....

here he is w/ panic doing a jerry joseph song:

Did see an Eck - not too bad.

I believe the question was referring to the black and white cards of Ruth, Ted Williams, Honus Wagner, etc. I always liked those cards and they introduced me to Pie Traynor back in '76.

I have done vending rips back in the day on 1974, 1975, and 1976 and results were not too far off. No Brett, no Yount, no Winfield rookie.... I know you said you were looking for a Bench out of this group, and as a kid that was one of my favorite cards from 1976 - all star logo with him standing at home plate with dust flying up. Do you have a 1976 Bench in your collection?

Thank you very much for showing. I only wish that all 5 cards per pic were all vertical as we ended having a drinking game (then betting) on "name that player"! I won big $ on guessing Maximino Leon, Dan Meyer and Lee Richard(one guy guessed Lee Richards!)but then lost on Morris Nettles, Bob Sheldon and Roric Harrison! Max Leon put me up a Franklin tho. Never had so much fun! We love the cards that do not give away the players name right on top.
Please do not burn the ones that deserve fire as I have a project that I will P.M. you later. PLEASE!

Am in. I get it. For whatever this is, am in.

Was it like the deal of slowly sliding down the screen (hopefully on a large screen) to see more and more of the card and whoever called the name first got the win ? Oh man. excellent fun. going forward though the cards would need to be around a half inch lower each if wanting three card per page big buck betting correct ? I apologize for stupidly sideways cards. It won't happen with the forthcoming box of whatever. I hate to be this, but.. I.... I love you guys. NO BURNING (yet)

Correct. I don't believe I saw any team cards either. Interesting distribution in these vending boxes.

Would very much like to go through a few of these vending boxes to see how things shake out. None of those cards were in this one. Team cards were in it though,
