very nice coin and a tricky one to grade.
IMO EF45, considering the rim dents etc.
might be way out to lunch, as I am a much too conservative grader

When I receive the coin, I'll take new images . I don't think taking images with a plastic cover and cardboard slab, help out theses image much . The last coin I purchased had the same thing ( plastic & cardboard ) which showed a couple of black spots on the coin . When I received the coin and took it out of it container, their were no black spots to be found on the coin . The black spots were on the plastic not the coin . Lol ...

E40 or 45 looks about right. They are tricky to grade. The reverse is often weakly struck, but tends not to show much wear until the coin is in the F or lower range.

The obverse the high point are the hairs just above the king's ear.

You'd make a bundle if you could find plastic covers that take black spots off coins!

This coin just keeps getting better ..

After some good research and talking to Paul who information on 50 cent pieces, can be found in the Variety section of

    Charlton 68th edition ..

This coin will be a new 3/3 variety and its new variety number is: R444d9 .. Heres some new images that got the job

done for the new variety ..

The first two images are of the crown, had to make sure there was no die clashes, or polishing marks to get rid of them ..

The third image is of the date where I was told none have been seen with the lower tip of the " 3 " being doubled and

the pattern of the die maks (the dot to the 1 and the 1 to the 9) ...

    Nice, 3/3
But, this series of 50 cent coins in the fifties has soooooo many "over/over and doubles, that it is only interesting for a serious variety collector who does not really need it to be listed as such.
remember the 1958 DOT? it is hardly mentioned any more .
Nevertheless, a great coin and definitely a strong keeper.
will you get it certified? if they note the DD3 and N3, it will have an effect on the Value. But I believe only CCCS would note it on the cert.
I do not think a US TPG would.

Paul sent me an email and told me since its a World War II era coin, each bank only received 20,000 coins and it is possible this die only was

    sent to one bank.

He also wanted in know what part of Canada I purchased the coin .

So I went one better and contacted the seller . He said he bought the coin in Montreal .

The seller going to get a hold of the person he purchased the coin and find out where he bought it from .

The person I purchased the coin from, think he has another one and hes going to send me some images of the areas in question ..
