Help Needed Identifying and Estimating Value - Old British Coin?

Thanks in advance.....a friend of mine acquired this at a small shop while on vacation....supposedly salvaged from
a shipwreck. Not really sure if it's a regular issue British coin, or a token from a British colony, or a contemporary counterfeit (it
seems a bit thin, but that may be from salt water etching?).
Any help is much appreciated.

  • I would say an official British halfpenny of George III struck 1770-75,,,full date of yours is half off flannel (as many of these are) but appears to be 1772 or 1773

The latest edition of Krause 18th Century doesn't even post a value for KM-601 in this condition, but you can probably expect that it's worth under $5 U.S. It catalogs in Fine for $4.00.
