Express Level

I have sent in 3 cards in the last few months on separate occasions. These were all one card orders with high expectations. Every time I have been sorely disappointed by more than one grade. I am now thinking the dreaded Grader of Death handles all express orders. A couple of months ago I sent in a gorgeous Unitas RC that everyone I showed it to said a minimum 6, most likely a 7 with the possibility of an 8. It came back a 4! Just this week a Kaline RC I thought was a 6 with a chance at a 7 came back a 4.5, which was very disappointing. I just sent in Chamberlain RC cracked from an SGC 6 holder that is very nice. If it comes back a 4 I will be done with express service. Anyone had good success with express service actually getting the grade you thought or better?

I haven't seen a correlation to grades and level of service. I have found through six submissions that I'm a lousy judge of what grade the card will get.
There is, however:
-- natural variance in the subjective art of grading, especially for marginal examples
-- understandable human inclinations to believe that our own cards deserve high grades and externalize the blame for falling short
-- situations where nearly imperceptible defects such as minute surface wrinkles hold cards with great eye appeal to low technical grades

This post is correct. You need a light source. Now one problem I do have is how much should a defect cost you. 1 point 2 or more. There lies some discrepancies.
