Fantasy football is upon us

We have our draft next week which is a 14 team league that requires 2 QBs to start each week. I made it to the super bowl 2 years in a row but lost both years. Who are everyone's number 1 picks and sleepers for this coming up year? I think my #1 pick is Le'Veon bell and my sleeper this year is Maxx Williams.

#1 pick, AP. Sleepers, Victor Cruz/Drew Brees.

If it's a PPR league, Bell would be my clear cut No. 1 as well. Just remember to pick up Williams in a later round for the first two weeks if you don't draft two other viable backs before that.

I agree with Bell in a PPR league... I took him with my first pick (6th overall) in a 12 man PPR league with my buddies, luckily (and not sure how) I ended up getting Dez and Brandin Cooks as well in rounds 2 and 3. I do think Cooks is in line for a big year, but not really a sleeper. For a true sleeper, I always gamble more with RBs in a PPR league... I like to lock up WRs first. So I like Joseph Randle, David Johnson or Duke Johnson Jr as a later round sleeper. While Duke and Randle will make more of an impact early... I think David Johnson will end up the feature back in AZ after Ellington and Chris Johnson disappoint (especially if they can't catch balls out of the backfield).

With 14 teams and two QB starting requirements, I am drafting a QB most likely in the first round and both of my starting QBs in the first three rounds. That is brutal considering there is no more than 32 starting QBs (most weeks less with byes) at any given time. In a format such as that, I really like Teddy Bridgewater as a #2. I feel he is going to breakout this year.

The last two years I picked my QB's last. Actually Eli Manning was my last pick overall after my bench. I kept track of the QB's taken and realized that everyone already got theirs so I was not afraid of him getting picked. It worked for me for the last two years so I need to focus on RBs since the good ones go.

In a 14 team / 2 QB league you want to go with Luck or Rodgers as the top 2 picks.

    Underrated players:

    QB: Tannehill, Bradford, Bridgewater, J.Winston
RB: Duke Johnson, David Johnson, Ivory, Yeldon, L.Murray, A.Foster (could be back week 4),
    WR: D.Adams, Funchess, D.Parker, Charles Johnson, E.Royal,
    TE: Eifert

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

This makes no sense to me. So 13 teams already took 2 QBs letting Eli fall to be the 27th picked QB off the board and you got him and another serviceable QB after him somehow??

Any 2 QB league I have ever been in if the points are weighted at all towards QBs 6 pts per TD vs 4 pts or bonuses for X yards and above or even 1 pt per 20 yards thrown then QBs go off the boards quicker than top tier RBs. Hell some teams will even reach for a 3rd QB to have during the 2 bye weeks way earlier than you would ever expect. I don't see how in the hell again a QB like Eli falls that far unless this is a fun league with folks that are all homers of bad teams taking their starters like Manziel, Schaub, etc. before taking a solid top 10 or even 20 QB.

So PPR league and is it default scoring on the QBs?

Cruz is not a sleeper. Look at players coming back from his meniscus injury and the results haven't been good the year after the injury.
Also Drew Brees is not a sleeper. He is drafted among the top 5 QB's so we all know he is good.

The rule of our league is that you can only have 2 QBs at any time so people don't stash a third or fourth on their bench not allowing someone else to complete a roster. If your QB is on bye you have to make a choice: start only 1 QB or risk dropping him and hope that someone doesn't pick him up. this is where you have to examine your standing on the waiver wire. If you have 1st pick on the waiver wire you know you can pick up your QB again but if you are at the bottom of the list you might lose him to someone with a crappy QB. Everyone liked these extra rules and we only had one person complain and start to cause trouble. He was ousted out of the league and labeled "does not play well with others."

Just depends where you're looking, Brees is listed as QB9 at one of my fav sites and should easily be top 5 this year. Cruz at WR29 is also way too low, he should be top 15-20 easy with upside since OBJ will be drawing the double teams. "Sleeper" really depends which site you're looking at as there are over/under-hyped players on each.

With Yahoo at least, even if you are No, 1 on the waiver wire, a player you drop must clear waivers before you can reaquire him, meaning any team putting in a claim will get him before you can.

The fun thing about fantasy football as well, at least for me, is no two leagues are alike. I've paired down my leagues to just two and the shortest of the pair I have been in three years. You learn tendencies of other coaches, who they homer for, etc. You then plan accordingly. It's an often forgotten dynamic that can impact a draft (especially if you have coaches who are not "hard core" so to speak).

I like Cruz but will be hard for him to have a good year coming back from his meniscus injury.
Most sites and magazines have Brees listed as a top 5 QB.

Cruz is coming back from a torn patellar tendon, not arthroscopic surgery on a meniscus. This injury is usually the kiss of death for an athlete that relies on explosion. Most cases show that the player never comes back to form. I would not draft Cruz this year.

You are correct I meant knee injury. The patellar injury is a bad one.
