Does anybody remember the story regarding the 1964 Topps Curt Flood baseball card and why it seems to be so pricy?

Seems to be I heard a story a few years ago about a certain collector that tries to gobble up as many copies as possible. Is that true or am I dreaming that up?

Are there any other variables that have made this card so inflated in terms of value?

I'll have to dig up the article, but yes there was one collector hoarding them. I think the link has been posted here previously.
