What did you win in ML auction last night?

Did anyone manage to win anything in the ML auction last night? I wasn't bidding on anything, but was interested in closing prices on a few cards. Strong results. Would love to know what other board members picked up or lost out on.

I thought it was really interesting to see the PSA 4 Mantle RC ($6190) sell for basically the exact same amount as the PSA 5 ($6199). The premium for eye appeal in this case was essentially a whole grade price bump. I actually thought the 4 might eclipse the 5, but also thought the cost of both would be less. Bravo for that 4.

It's pretty clear that eye appeal was everything on those two cards last night. It's been nice to see this shift toward buying the card and not so much the holder. At least perceptually it feels like a shift is occurring.

  • 52 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 7 sold for $100,000.
I believe that's the highest sales price ever for auction of a 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 7.
    Strong price.

Won this. I thought it looked great for a 7. Total with juice and shipping is still less than any 7 has sold for on ebay.image

Can never go wrong with an '86 Fleer MJ. Also very rare to walk away with a card from an AH below market value considering the "juice".

The '51 Bowman Mantle PSA 4 was unreal. I would have thrown my hat in the ring if I wasn't in save mode. Phenomenal card and I would much rather have that one over the PSA 5. Not close IMHO.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Chickles were popular pickups. Congrats to you both.

Curt, Wanna do 36 miles on the Appalachian Trail with me in September or October? I have all the gear, you would just need to get here.

Matt, shoot me the dates, I would definitely be interested. I already have the gear packed and ready - are we making this a 1 or 2 day hike image
