Just got back. Seemed well attended. Not much there for me as usual. Picked up a PSA 9 1972 Killebrew, a PSA 8.5 1972 Graig Nettles. Amassed 13 very nice 1978 commons. Bought 3 SGC 96 '72 commons that I cracked out.

Was nice to meet miniduff, who was set up at the show. He had his '75 mini FASC wax boxes with him. Great guy!

Nice pick ups PaulMaul. I went today and returned with money in my pocket. The prices were reasonable but the inventory was not impressive in the high grade vintage department. My kids came away with boxes of junk wax that they are excited about and are ripping as we speak. The attendance seemed to be strong. The best part of the day was seeing the auction previews from Memory Lane, Heritage, Love of the Game, etc. There are some heavy hitting cards coming this fall to their auctions. Biggest surprise of the day was that there was not one '93 SP Foil Jeter in the entire show. My only action was that I submitted a '62 Mantle to PSA for review. Fingers crossed.

How was the selection of unopened product pre 1986? It was practically nothing at the National in Chicago except BBCE
Love those 70's - early 80's packs and boxes...send me a message if you are selling because I am buying

Aside from miniduff's 75 mini wax boxes, the only unopened I saw was Floyd Soder's stuff, which is just some graded wax and cellos. He had a few '72 Basketball wax packs. Not much else.
  • Looks like I was there around the same time you all were. Went with my 6 yo son, as he wanted to get some Granderson cards and Avengers cards to create his first trading card album.

The attendance was very strong imo - aisles were beyond packed. Seemed like there people of all ages: young kids, teens, young 20s, 30s and up. Even though so many people question the future of this hobby, I truly believe the hobby is here to stay.

We didn't find any Granderson cards, though I have to admit, we didn't look super thoroughly, as I think my son was overwhelmed.

Was particularly annoyed with one dealer that had packs listed for $3 - my son picked up 2 Marvel superheroes packs and 1 Cinderella pack for his 2 yo sister, and the dealer told him $10. I told him all the packs were listed at $3, and he responded back saying that 2 were $4/each. Had there been more non-sports tables, I would've told my son to put the packs down, but he really wanted them. That will be the last time that dealer gets my business. Anyhow, he got those packs, a Captain America Winter Soldier pack, and a Harry Potter lego character.

He was pretty excited to put his cards in his new binder when we got home, which I enjoyed seeing.

I wanted to drop off my Bond Bread set with PSA to get the cards reholdered with the new slabs, as well as do some shopping for me, but I think my son was overwhelmed by the crowd. I did some more '51 Mantles than I remember seeing, but maybe that's because I was actively looking this time around.

I don't know which direction you all were heading after the show, but man, the traffic westbound on 287 towards the TZ bridge was a nightmare in this heat!

I hit that too heading to Orange County. All due to a TZ lane closure. Cost me half an hour!

The show had a strong selection of the shiny stuff if that is what you are into. A large majority of the selection either had a signature, piece of bat/jersey, or some kind of relic. There was a lot of bargaining going on and from what I saw the buyer did well. There was definitely a lot of money changing hands. There seemed to be a lot of raw cards from the 50's through the 70's. Collectors who are good at finding the diamond in the rough would have done well. The line up of players signing autos throughout the weekend was impressive - Pete Rose, Bo Jackson, Johnny Bench, Doc Gooden, Denny McClain, Cal Ripken, and Eddie Murray. There were a lot of Oakland Raiders helmets being carried around with Bo Jackson's auto. Looked great. I was ready to go home and play Tecmo Bowl.

It's always great meeting board members in person. The best part of doing a show. There was at least one raw SP Jeter at the show. A kid bought it and took it to the Beckett booth... came back 9.5. Highlight of the weekend for the folks set up around them.
