52 Topps Mantle PSA 7

Check out the card in memory lane auctions ending tomorrow night. Already over $97,000 with the buyers premium. A PSA 7 Topps 1952 Mantle sold for $165,000 in a private transacation recently.

    how do the 2 compare? have u seen or heard the description of the one in the private sale?

    would love to take a shot at this one but just don't have that amt of spare cash right now...image... nice to dream...someday although would need a deep market correction....real deep

    I think the key to the private sale is that it was Nicely Centered!

  • As for the 51B, i like the 4 with the centering best. I also wouldnt mine the 311 Sgc30/2 as well. Both are nice!!

    I saw a PSA 7 that sold privately for over 100k. Cannot say, however, if it is the very card the OP is referencing. My own comparative analysis would be that the card I saw blew the Memory Lane example away in the tilt and centering departments, and thus had much greater eye appeal. The corners, edges, surface, and image quality were else all equal. Hope that helps.

    dm23hof...that does help, thx.....with grades being equal, centering, sharp corners etc can result in a 50% premium at minimum with these high grade cards
