Help Identifying Coins - Iran

Good Afternoon,
A friend of the family passed away last year. He was an executive in the oil business and was in Iran in the 1970s. I've been told by his wife that the 2 coins pictured were given to him by a gentleman in the Iranian government in the included pouch. She sent pictures of the coins to me and asked if I could help identify the coins and estimate their value.
I have looked in my Krause catalog and can't seem to identify the coins.
I would be grateful if those of you that may be familiar, could provide some helpful information.
I apologize in advance for the the not so great photos. I will request better pictures and try to include in the days ahead.

Thanks for your help!

#1 I think is a gold "Mother Day" Medal
MS2535 (1976)
should be .900 fine, 39.7 grams, similar to this:
http://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?auction=779&category=17109&lot=774398
Can't match #2 exactly. Very similar to the MS2535 (1976) 10 Rials (KM 1208) and 20 Rials (KM1209) but not quite. If it came with the Medal above, may also be a commemorative/medal of some sort.

Thank you very much for your time. You look to be spot on!
I will try to get better information from the owner to determine the size for coin #2.
Thanks again!

Eric, is that your Canadian collection being auctioned by Heritage? Nice stuff!!!!

Today was the day. 20 years of collecting Canadian and it was time to let them go. I'm experiencing some health issues and a change of seasons with my first 2 going to college and 2 more approaching. Heritage did a nice job! The weak Canadian dollar probably didn't help for bidding from friends up north. I am pleased with the results, but will miss the coins.
Thanks,
Eric

Do you know what #2 is made of? Gold/Silver/Copper-Nickel?
Can you make out the last digit/character in the date (Front of Krause should help you) Pretty sure the first 3 are 253
Should be able to nail it down with size, composition and that last character.
