Ebay Question: How many days before?

I recently sold a vintage baseball card for around $25. Small potatoes. The auction ended last Thursday night.

I waited a few days and no payment. On Monday afternoon, I sent a very friendly reminder that I was ready to ship upon notification of payment. Still no response from the buyer who has over 1000 transactions and 100% positive feedback.

How long do I wait until I relist? Should I send another message? Leave negative feedback? Am I being too impatient?

Let me know if you guys can offer some eBay advice and etiquette. Thanks!

You can't leave negative feedback, you should be able to open an unpaid item claim.
  • Don't relist until the original transaction is closed by eBay or yourself. Open the unpaid item claim. After however many days the claim system allows, it will end the transaction and credit your fees back to you. Then you can relist.

I would open the claim after 6 days.....plenty of time to get payment in, especially given you have sent a reminder. I had a buyer with 900 FB not pay for an item, no response no nothing....should be an auto neg for the buyer if they dont pay
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • Message to buyer gently nudging in the direction of payment: 3 days

Open non-paying bidder case: 7 days

Close non-paying bidder case: ASAP after opened

I had a buyer not pay recently, followed Casey's advice, and was able to promptly re-list.

Configure your settings to automatically open a case for non paying bidders after x days (4 minimum..not sure max). No more thinking about it.
