Incredible stuff already posted. I love everything, since I don't have anything mid-70's and earlier I am always excited to see some great vintage unopened. As others have already pointed out, the 71 Munson is incredible, all of Manny's 60's stuff is ridiculous and Tim's 75 run is awesome too. Keep them coming. Here is my contribution to the thread: some 80's football with the guys I watched as a kid. My favorite team is the 49ers which is why the collections slants that way. I apologize in advance for the size of the scans.

We need more basketball! Where is trimmer (sorry if I butchered your screen name)? Isn't there someone on here with a Wilt RC showing pack? I know somebody has some 70's racks with Kareemimage

    Good stuff Steve.

The Rice RC looks nice - the centering doesn't look bad either.

John, how about posting a pic of the front of that cello?!?! Would love to see it as well as the front of the gai flip.

I didnt even know topps produced basketball cellos; I know they did racks in 73 but had no idea they ever did cellos, period.

Oh and btw, Wilt supposedly slept with 20,000 women, not a paltry 10,000!!image >>

I'm fascinated by the '72 basketball cello. Test item? Was there an outer box? And remember those ultra jumbo '72 baseball cellos we discussed before?

I saw a bunch of 49ers stuff earlier in this thread so I thought I'd share a pack that I've had for a while but haven't posted before. It's got the 1980 ROY showing along with a couple 49ers QBs.

  • slum22slum22 Posts: 2,594 ✭✭✭✭
Bobby, nothing modest about those packs. I love the Pops and the skinny headed Bonds!
1all--I believe those were my 49er packs you referenced. That is a great pack you have! Your Montana rack beats mine by quite a bit. Sims was incredible before the injury.

This thread is going to cost me some money. I was slowing my unopened purchases but I am back in on the star showing packs now, lol.

<< <i>I know we've discussed this before, but are 1972 Basketball Cellos even known to exist in the general collecting community? >>

That 50 card '72 Basketball cello pack was distributed by Wheaties cereal. It was a send away on the box panel.
I owned one of these and stupidly opened it many years ago. It contains 50 diff. players from the first series only (so no DR. J is inside).
But you will find Wilt, Maravich, West, and many other stars. In addition to the cello pack, you also received an uncut sheet of the
first series from that set. I still have mine and have been meaning to get it framed.

I've only seen a few of these over the years. So the cello pack and sheet are both fairly scarce these days.

Here's what the uncut sheet looks like (not mine) that came with the cello pack tucked inside the roll :
