My Version The National - Ripping for Gradeables (Scans Added: I need your opinions)

Hi all,

Since I'm a comparatively low-budget dude but still geek out on a mountain of junk to rip, I present my version of my 2015 Nationals Booty. I made a somewhat-rare pilgrimage to my favorite card shop a few towns away, spent about $260 on all this stuff. I also got some cool singles that didn't seem to make it into the boxes I brought home, but I'll post those once I get them back from the store. I'm going to go cross-eyed busting all this looking for grade-worthy specimens, but that's what makes me the happiest.

Nice haul Mike! I, too, love ripping this kind of stuff. You've convinced me to open a box of 89 Topps Hockey from the reserves, lol.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Looking forward to you finds! Some of those sets bring back memories when I worked at the local card shop and kids were ripping some of those packs at 5 to 10 times what you paid for them.

Good luck, I hope you pull some nice Gem's! If you bought this stuff on Ebay, you probably would of paid that in shipping haha

^^ This is what the hobby should be all about. Collect (and rip and grade) what you love.

Love this type of stuff. A few times a year I grab a bunch of this similar products from the clearance section of one of the big online unopened sellers and always enjoy opening sorting sending them in for grading etc.
  • Does PSA grade the 3D cards? I bought a few boxes a long time ago for doing some player sets but they got lost in the shuffle. I'm sure I still have them somewhere. I have a ton of those buttons as well but only Reds for the same reason. I would love to see those heads up when you rip them. Awesome!

I don't think so, they're too thick for any of the oversize holders.

Looks like a lot of ripping fun, good luck!

    Thanks, guys.

Yeah, I'm sure PSA won't grade the 3D cards and I don't know about the buttons, but I'm a sucker for oddball issues. It'll take me several days to get through this stuff (much to my lady's chagrin, since it's occupying the center of the living room), but I should have finds to post by the weekend. I'm basically pulling anything that has a shot at a 10 and will sell for $20 or more.

  • Alright, I busted the two 1981 Topps Traded baseball sets and have presorted the potential gradeables - but I'd really appreciate your collective eyeballs and experience to figure out which may nab me 10s (and/or 9s for the key rookies). Sorry my scanner isn't topnotch, but it's what I'm working with.

Thanks so much (...and the ripping continues):

Scan with lid up, too hard to make an educated guess with these scans.

The centering on those 81Ts looks really strong Mike.

Hard to say on the corners but some look very strong. Land a few 10s and you've got something!

    Best of luck.
