How does this card go from a raw NM-MT to a PSA gem mint 10?

You will see the top corner is now razor sharp if you blow up the picture in the eBay auction. What are your thoughts.
Now a PSA 10

I wonder if this is a case where PSA will buy the card back and get it off the market?
That said, is that a signature, or more like that symbol Prince used for a time?
<< <i>Why assume the card got a hair cut? Isn't it just as likely the manufacturer put out two #04/99s? >>
In my opinion, the clear evidence is the I in Immaculate being much closer to the edge in the 2nd photo. Well, that and the original owner posting the pictures. Also, if you look the seller has 85 listings and ONE that isn't a BGS/PSA gem mint grade. A lot of you don't handle the newer stuff but they are impossible to get pack pulled in high grade. I am talking Exquisite/Immaculate/ Preferred/NT. That is why these cards are POP 1/2.
Certainly would need better scans. I know it's apples and bananas, but I had a near perfect 1971 Baseball card that looked pretty bad when I scanned it, looked like it had white "dots" on the black borders. Under magnification and bright sunlight they weren't there. Scanner bed was clean.
Was this your card in the past and you KNOW there was white showing?????
<< <i>Nothing clear about those scans. Appears to be some white on corner, could be a reflection or card could be trimmed.

Glad you asked that. Here is a link to the original owner.
Original owner and explains condition
i'd sure like to know how they were able to do that - this is a jersey card so it's a thick one I would think
is another possibility that this card got sent back to panini since it wasn't "mint" in the first place, and they reissued it?
<< <i>the graded card definitely looks shorter on the left to my eye

No, they would replace it with one of the other 99 they keep back for damage replacement.
No way. The signature is the same down to the slight fading on the right.
How thick is this issue? I can only imagine that this card was extremely oversized to have a big hunk taken off on the left and top.
That is unscrupulous skill there. I don't think it's possible to use a paper cutter or something simple on fat thick cards. Something high tech maybe.

<< <i>Patch is identical as well. PSA is very good at what they do, but humans make mistakes and this is one of them. If you don't see this as an obvious trim, honestly no offense, but you are in denial. >>

They call me "Pack the Ripper"
<< <i>Interesting. The auctions describes the card as a reprint. Is that his way of staying out of trouble? >>
No. All 4 of the item specifics are wrong.

I don't have the blow up but his shoes lost a bit of height in the regrading process.
Then, again, it could just be an illusion?
<< <i>Why assume the card got a hair cut? Isn't it just as likely the manufacturer put out two #04/99s? >>
It's not assuming anything. The signature is like a fingerprint. It's an identical signature on both cards. It's the exact same card.
<< <i>Yeah, the Brady has been trimmed too. The problem is the companies can't pick it up because the trimmers use a laser cutter. That's my opinion. >>
You don't need a laser trimmer. I probably should not disclose anymore in case a card doctor is reading this. I don't want to give them anymore ideas for their slimy craft.
<< <i>This reminds me of the infamous Brady gets big bump at the "chop shop" a la Beckett.

I also recall seeing somewhere on the internet the Skybox Jeter autograph that had a flawed bottom edge go from a BGS 7.5 to a PSA 10. When it showed up in the 10 holder, the bottom edge had magically been healed with no flaws. The card doctors are not going to stop, and they are getting better at their game as time moves forward.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I have a couple of questions - without the first raw sale would you know from the scan if the card has been trimmed? Second, if you had the card in hand after it had been altered would you be able to tell?
