What's the grade on this 75 Darrell Evans?

What would the Evans card grade if I sent it to PSA?

    I would say an 8.

Grote, so PSA doesn't discount the grade for the name placement being too low?

Also sorry for the small scan, I'm not too great with photobucket.

That is actually common for that color combo. They measure centering from bottom of the baseball.

Thanks Grote, I have a Manny Mota, same color combo that has the low name placement also. I've never sent one in so I appreciate the info.

My pleasure. It looks OC at first glance, but that is just an anomaly with that particular color combo. It happens with both regular sized and minis from 75.

Just curious as to how you know where the centering is measured from. Is it just experience that tells you or did you actually get some guidance from PSA? I have always wondered about they look at in centering, aside from obvious ones like 1967 Topps , 1984 Donruss etc

    LOL, you're probably right, Doug!

I've been submitting 75s for better part of the last decade, and learned these nuances the hard way, by trial and error, with mostly error in the first few years, lol. The dropped name on the Evans card is a variation unique to that particular color combo. The baseball, however, is properly situated on these cards, for centering purposes.

Always nice learning something new. That's surely a "great to know" considering 75s are a fun rip, but tough sub.
