2015 Natty Recap / Pictures

Another National in the books....WOW! The hobby seems very healthy to me.

Before I move forward, I guess I should take a step back first. I missed last year's National. It was the first time I had missed a National since I began going in 2008. I was really looking forward to seeing a lot of the boards members that have been a tremendous amount of support to me through some serious life changes that I have undergone over the last 18 months. I am not going to post names, but most of you guys reading this know who you are, as we tend to communicate via text message. Let me publicly acknowledge how special and how important your support to me over this period of time has been. Sometimes a light moment, sharing a story of similar experience and feelings or a quick laugh was exactly what I was needing through the course of some difficult days. In addition to seeing board members/friends it was the first National in three years that I got to go with my partner in crime and best friend BPorter26 (Bobby). It's really cool when you get to be a kid again for a week with someone you grew up collecting cards with. Before I post pictures, I want to mention Jeff Foy (Card Country), as I wouldn't have come home with the cards that I did without A LOT of give on his part in negotiations. There has been a lot said about Jeff on these boards about how great his cards are, but what really stands out to me is that you will not meet a nicer person in this hobby or on the planet. Its for this reason that I do almost 100% of my business with Jeff.

Thanks to all for letting me have my sentimental moment. It was such a pleasure seeing / meeting so many board members, sharing a quick hello and talking about the hobby, even if it was for a quick 30 seconds.

On to the new additions.....

  • Beautifully written Matt. Wish i could have gone and hung out with you guys but soon enough we will hang out. Thanks for keeping an eye out for me on my want list. Glad you and Bobby had a great time.

On your pick ups, they are sick! That Mays is insanely beautiful. 1952 centered beauty in high grade. More people will be turning to that card as the Mantle even in low grade is begining to be out of reach for many. Congrats on all 3 actually. Im sure many will echo the same comments - and that Jackie - insane centering.

Wow. Those cards are phenomenal. I was eyeing the Mays when viewing Jeff's inventory and love that card. The Jackie is off the charts. Great eye and enjoy your incredible pick ups from the National.

Incredible cards Matt, and I had seen the 52 Mays and it is an amazing card. The Rose and Robinson are as good as you can get for the grade - awesome pickups. You are 100% right about Jeff, and he always has great stuff but more importantly he treats everyone better than anyone else in the hobby. I think that is why he has so many people that buy and sell from him - 90% of my purchases come through him. Great job on those cards.

Matt great seeing you and Bobby--When I saw you guys Saturday before you flew out--I kept thinking how cool it must be to have a close fiend to share the National Experience with.

So different than going alone. You're both good guys--hope you make it to AC

    Oh yeah--WOWZA on the cards!!!

That Rose rookie is amazing. I have been trying to find one just like that for along time with no luck.

Wow. Great pickups. I'm also wondering if Jeff from card country has a website. I have done a Google search
But nothing came up. Would love to see his inventory

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • Matt Once again it was great hanging out with you and Bobby. It has definitely not been the same without you at the Natty. Cant wait till AC. Hang in there and let me know if I can do anything for you. image

Great looking cards! Thanks to you and everyone who posted a recap of the National. I've never been so I enjoy reading about it.
  • Craig - you can search under collectorfocus.com. Just doing a search of collections and you can find his, however - he sold a lot of items and doesn't appear he has had the time to update his current inventory since returning back. I will also echo that Jeff is top notch.

Matt, first of all, it was really nice to meet you, although very briefly. Secondly, these cards are off the charts. While I am partial to the Rose Rookie, the Jackie Robinson is simply amazing. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

    Matt,

Beautiful pick ups. I love the Robinson the most. I'm glad you madde it out this year, I hope to see you again at one of the Nationals in the future.
And I've purchased cards from Jeff (Card Country) and I agree 100% that he is great to work with on purchasing high end centered cards.

Matt...... I wouldn't be able to enjoy the national without you brother. I know I told you over and over again this past weekend how nice your Willie is, it's absolutely beautiful.

I totally agree that Jeff is one of the best people there is regardless if it's dealing with baseball cards or not.

<< <i>Thanks to all for letting me have my sentimental moment. It was such a pleasure seeing / meeting so many board members, sharing a quick hello and talking about the hobby, >>

    Hiya Matt

It was great meeting you and geez those pickups are awesome!!!!

    That Robinson card is incredible!!

I just wanted to whole heartedly agree about the relationships we garner here and how important they are to truly enjoying our hobby.

When I attended the National in 1992 - tho big - was just another flea market with nicer stuff.

Meeting you and others and sharing our experiences - on the board e.g. - takes the experience (of the national) to a whole new and importantly far better level!!!

    Thanx for sharing buddy.

Drop-dead gorgeous Jackie card Matt; if possible it looked even better in-hand! Incredible centering on that Mays too.

Thanks again for getting us together for dinner at Gibson's - wonderful food and camaraderie, great to see you, Bobby and Mike again.

    Next year in AC!

Matt- Sorry I'm so late to the show here. Since the national ended my work schedule has been crazy and I haven't had a chance to post.
I really appreciate your nice words. We've been friends for quite some time now (boy how time flies!), and I'm so glad we got to hang out at the show this year. I'm also glad you got the Mays, Jackie, and Rose. All 3 are awesome and are definitely your kind of cards!
I'm already looking forward to next year!
