These are crudely struck coins.
I have a 1792 2 Sols and it has doubling of the 2 S reverse.
This coin was struck at the Lille mint "W", quite possibly while Louis languished in prison.

common for them.
Still pretty dramatic and interesting, though.

Yeah it seems the earlier that you go, punching and die errors seem to be more common and less noteworthy when considering the price of a coin. But, in collecting terms, super cool and yet another fascinating thing to keep an eye out for.
