Those duits are always fun and affordable 1700s coppers that won't break the bank.

Cool coins. Also happy to see these coppers. I like them even though I haven't taken the plunge.

It also makes me realize how awesome it is to have the ability to snap a photo of a new purchase with your phone and be able to throw it onto the forum like we do. I remember price lists from when I was a kid and besides never having enough money for the things I wanted, I also thought to myself, "How do people actually buy coins without seeing them off of these things?"

    Ah, internet.

not to say the history behind these coins, yeah they are not the best examples but they make the grade with me

Very nice! I had a run-in with some counterfeits once, be sure to have them authenticated if you haven't already. Congrats on the cool coppers! Really very nice. To me they look like they could tell all kinds of cool stories about their handlers and the history they've witnessed. Much cooler than a coin which sat idle in a drawer and saw no action image

+1. These "workhorse" coins have a lot of charm and since they did what coins are supposed to do, they come heavily circulated. Finding a high grade can be devilishly difficult. Your coins retain the major design elements and probably are good examples of what contemporaries would have seen in their "pocket change" which is really fun. I do recall seeing some contemporary counterfeits (which I think are collectable in their own right) but these appear perfectly legit and no need to incur the bother and expense to "authenticate" IMHO.

    What fun.
