1809 O.113a R5 Half Dollar.
The rarity of the 1809 Overton 113a variety has stood the test of time, and deserves its R5 rating.
In my 30 or so years of searching coin shows, I have found only 1 or 2 others.
This one is relatively well struck on the obverse as Liberty's chin is quite strong. There is, however, an 'X'-shaped scratch
in the field behind Liberty's head. It is old and not bright, and doesn't jump out at you.
The reverse strike is more typical with the eagle's beak and left wing being weak.
The coin was lightly cleaned ages ago and is now naturally toned.
There are very few hairlines and some ticks.
The photo shows the color about right.
