New 1804 Half Cent

I've added my first half cent to my collection. It's an 1804 Plain 4 Stemless in AU53. Nice smooth even brown, very minimal wear. Paid not much above the straight AU price considering the sharp climb at MS60. I'll see if I can produce a respectable scan.

Here's a scan. It's a touch darker and less mottled looking in person. There is also much more hair detail than can be clearly seen in the scan.

    TomB,
Yes--I really like the obverse... it has that classic very old coin look to it. I was happy to find it at a fair price.

    Bob,
I hate to tell you but...I bought it a mile or two from where you live. As you may know, I moved to Mississippi about two weeks ago. I came back to San Antonio for the long weekend, and was happy to see the San Antonio Coin Show was today. The dealer that is on the inner ring of tables in the back right corner had it. It was his only graded half-cent. $375 paid for AU53 vs $325 grey sheet for straight AU. It was the only thing I bought at the show. Same dealer had a nice MS63 stars obverse seated dime, but is was a better date and near $400. If I'm going to spend that, I want an MS64 example.
