1967 Topps Seaver Rookie - Thoughts & Possible Grade

Picked this up as part of a collection some time ago.

Small dollar deal that just happened to have some unexpected goodies hiding.

Thoughts on a possible grade if I send it in. It does have a consistent slight diamond
cut and a rough side. Centering is nice and any spots are from my scanner, card is
very clean.

I've measured it and it does measure up.

Thanks for all opinions both positive and otherwise.

Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

I'm gonna go with seven but grading is so inconsistent. Beautiful card and I don't think the rough cut would count against the grade.

I have no experience with this card, so I won't hazard a guess on the grade as it would be very uneducated, but wanted to chime in and congratulate you on a nice pickup. It is a great looking card, whatever grade it gets.

  • I think you are looking at an 8.

That is beautiful. I have an 8 and this looks slightly better than mine. I could see an 8.5 due to the perfect centering.

    Thanks for all the opinions.

I like how the grades are going up!

    I can only hope.

  • The lower left front corner(right on the back) has an issue more than the others. That along with the rough cut edge is a reason I wouldn't like it in a PSA 8 holder. If there are no surface issues in person, I do like it in a 7 or 7.5 holder at best. It's a beauty.

That is a beautiful card. I will say an 8 all day long.
  • I would personally grade it a 7.5, but would expect a 7.

+1 on that. The tilt on the back side is visually distracting, and the corner wear shows up more clearly when viewed on back. I've seen worse 8's, but if it were mine, I sure wouldn't count on an 8 when I subbed and just be surprised if it did come back that way.

Easy 8 and a probable 8.5, depending on the submission grading level. I'm a firm believer that if you tried sending that in as a monthly special of complimentary submission, it would grade lower. Send it in valuing it at $1,500, you'll get your grade.

One thing that we cant tell by scans is any surface issues. That's another reason it's difficult to 'guess the grade' on these boards. The last part of your comment is scary. The card should grade what it is.

    Thanks for the input.

To answer a few questions, the card is very clean. No surface issues that I can
see. That spot on his chin scared me until I realized that it is on all his rookie
cards. I am mostly a football & basketball guy so I wasn't aware of that little
    fact.

That's an interesting thought on the grading level. Either way I would imagine
that I would have to use a higher level since all feel it is at least a 7+. Putting it
    over $500.

    Thanks again.

First off that's a very clean card. I think you have a nice shot at an 8. Good Luck

Definitely an 8 with an 8.5 chance due to ~50/50 centering.

Nice card. Try brushing your fingertip down the back right side. If that lower corner doesn't have paperloss, it could push it back down. I think you'd still get the 8 with that little paperloss though.

The tilt on the back is irrelevant. It's a travesty if that's not at least an 8. I've seen so many cards like this in a 9 holder it's not even funny
    It never leaves you...
