    Thanks Carlos,

I have to admit - you were the reason that I finally posted it. Your charge up the ranks in the last 2 weeks has been nothing short of scary. I actually finished it up 2 months ago, but figured I'd keep woking on it until I could post it all in PSA 8 or better.

You're progress this week forced my hand. So, I threw the 5 - PSA 7's, 1 - 8OC, 1 - 5 and one 6OC (but very high end 6OCimage) in for now. I'll open the grades back up for viewing when my load at PSA (high end 72's picked up at Ft. Washington) gets graded hopefully by next weekend. I should be able to update a few of the non-8's at that point and add a few more 9's.

Thanks for the kind words and have a great, long weekend!

FB, that is simply incredible. Your dedication to finishing such a large set is admirable to say the least. I have no doubt that you will upgrade the entire set to 8 or 9. Great job! image

    Frank,

I didn't mean to force your hand. I had no intentions of completing this set before you (I knew you were at 100%.) I'm sorry I didn't convey that to you prior to me adding all those cards. image

Frank - Congrats! The cardboard that legends are made of! I am thrilled to be apart of this 72' thing. Its a pleasure to know you and thanks for dragging me along for the ride.
I aspire to get the tough ones and someday have a set that is half as nice as yours.
    Way to go buddy!

    Thanks everyone,

It has really been a blast - not only building this set - but meeting the different people along the way. My wife has been very understanding of this 2 year long obsession so I have to thank her most of all. But, after her, I have to thank:

Mike Castaldi - who's been a big trading partner this last year.
Neil Downey - who's helped me acquire some really nice raw 72's.
Steve Peckovich - for finding some of the hard to find 8's and 9's.
Andy Montero - who always seems to find another deal every time we talk.
Carlos Aponte - for buying, selling and trading with me in 72 and now 70.
Erik Jarvi - whom I suspect will close the gap very quickly and soon.
Dale Wedge - for supplying a number of hard to find 8's.
Mark Wingard - who has helped me upgrade with some beautiful 9's.
Chris Porter - for making me aware of some beautiful, hard to find 9's.
Joel Gabrelow - for providing me with a set to emulate and aspire to.

and there are a ton of others - I just hope that I don't offend by omitting someone. It has been a blast and now I'll continue to upgrade for a while longer and then turn my full attention to the 1970 set.

    Thanks guys!

    Bubba,

If you have the answer - that will be very cool... A number of the 72 guys have been trying to come up with it. Can't wait to see it. Thanks!

    Ron,

I'll tell you... and you must know it too - its very tough to even get .01 movement in the graded average. I just added 5 more 5th series PSA 9's which are weighted double the 1st through 4th series and the average weight didn't budge... went from 8.50819 to 8.51279 I think that my ultimate goal is to get as close to 9 as I can, but I think that in another year 8.75 is probably where I hope to be.

    Thanks for the kind words!
